Traffic devices at DV end of EDG

This week four temporary battery powered devices have appeared atop two high poles at the junction of EDG and Red Post Hill. They look like miniature cameras.

Anyone got any idea of what they are there for?

I noticed these on the top of dog kennel hill as well near the school maybe pollution monitoring?

There are some on Calton Avenue too - plus Southwark-clad officers sketching as they watched the traffic. The devices say they are traffic monitoring.

Same of Forest Hill Road end of Woodvale and Langton Rise - Says it was a traffic survey

They are cameras for a traffic survey commissioned by Southwark Council

The rubber tubes across local roads measure traffic flow, direction and speeds. The CCTV records car number plates. when all the cameras data is compared they can tell how many cars take which route through the area. Such detailed origination and destination surveys are super helpful to answer questions around what ifs and what changed since measures have been installed. The cameras are not real time.
