I keep my bank statements but am having a bit of a spring clean frenzy and would love to get rid of paperwork I don't need.

What do I need to keep and what can I get rid of?

I have recently become self employed to some extent so know I need to keep anything relevant to my tax returns, but what about past bills, tenancy agreements, etc...?

Tax six years minimum but I keep for ten.

Old bills etc we bin immediately more or less if a real reading but keep if an estimate.

Bank statements I keep till it becomes idiotic to do so.

We are also having a spring clean but the place looks atrocious currently. Like builders, spring cleaning makes things worse first!

    • I have been thinking about using an AI to cross-reference comments; between public commenting platforms along with the news of the day for past events (that needed to be "dealt with" for narrative management), future events which need to be "shaped" or "nudged" to move the public in a particular direction (narrative control) and what it is that forms the "community". I think it is happening on a large number of comment forums. I can already see a pattern with a number of single-issue commenters (that have the nerve to accuse others of being "obsessed" or of being a member of certain political parties) that make feeble attempts to comment on other subjects but really have only one obsession. They are obvious. But I also want to see the patterns of enforcers and Igor / Renfield types.
    • Penguin ,Underhill is a very long road (as I'm sure you know ) so I understand why you would not recognise sections of it .
    • So much passive-aggressive in one small reply.
    • I had not realised your photographs were of the road I live in - which I must admit I do not recognize. I had though they were not Underhill Road  but elsewhere. Apologies. I had thought I was writing of my own experiences in Underhill Road but obviously I don't know my own streets. When the men I watch tip rubbish into their lorries they do not seem to spill out into the road, but obviously my eyes aren't good enough to see this.
