The traffic lights when turning right at the old harvester/ tile place junction leading onto College Road has a really short timer on it, not even 5 seconds, creating a queue as cars cannot move quickly.

Anyone else experienced this.

Who would be the best person to speak to get the timer reset to 10-20 seconds..

I guess it's possible the phasing might be out and in need of reviewing but I think traffic light phasing is a pretty complex business and that a request to increase/decrease from a layperson will fall on deaf ears .

I'm not positive but think London Transport would be the appropriate body to approach .

The phasing is different at different times of day/weights of traffic. I agree that it can cause a back up of cars towards Lordship Lane when the right turn phase is short, but the aim appears to be to keep the weight of traffic around the South Circular flowing freely.

When the right hand turn phase into College Road is short, the equivalent right hand turn out of College Road on to the South Circular towards Forest Hill is much longer, so it appears to be a bit of give and take.

Remember there was a consultation last year to remodel the junction by including traffic island crossings making it safer to cross, especially on Dulwich Common which is dangerous currently with people trying to reach Cox's Walk. No idea when the works will commence.
I reported it as dangerous on the TFL website when I noticed this problem before https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1535656,1536761#msg-1536761 (back in 2015, wow time flies). They did sort it out pretty quickly. Depressing that there is STILL no provision for pedestrians at that junction.

There has been a consultation and pedestrian crossings will be installed, I think in January.

There's a thread about it on here somewhere.

Fair enough. I got the following email on 2 May:

TfL Consultations

Thu, 2 May, 11:57

to TfL

Dear Sir or Madam

Between 13 September and 25 October 2018, we consulted on proposals to introduce formal pedestrian signalised crossing arrangements at the junction of Dulwich Common and Lordship Lane.

We have now published our Consultation Report, which summarises how we sought comments and feedback on our proposals. We have also published our responses to the most common issues raised during the consultation.

In total, we received 274 responses to the consultation of which:

? 91 per cent supported or strongly supported the overall proposal to make changes to the pedestrian crossings and cycling facilities; and

? 3 per cent opposed or strongly opposed our proposal

We tentatively anticipate commencing the project early in 2020.

We are currently revisiting the design of the scheme to investigate the possibility of introducing a crossing at the southern arm of the junction.

We will inform local residents and stakeholders of any design changes before any construction takes place.

You can find our consultation report and responses to issues raised here: https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/roads/a205-dulwich-common-lordship-lane/.

Yours faithfully

    • Found debit card on Colyton Road - around 5:30pm. PM with your name and the last 4 digits of the card number if you think it might be yours.  Reported to the bank who asked me to shred it. If you are the owner, they'll send a new one in the post
    • Yet to use it for a big parcel, but worth a try!
    • This guy was found running loose on the common, up at the Colyton Road end. He was being quite over zealous with other dogs, causing a bit of mayhem. No collar, we think he might be a pup who's escaped. If he's yours, PM me and I can put you in touch with a kind young couple who got a lead on him and have put shout-outs on the local dog whatsapp groups.  If you are the parents of any of the young lads in school uniform, who were helping me as I tried to stop a fight kicking off between this chap and my dog, please tell your sons thank you. I really thought it was going to get nasty and I didn't get the chance to thank the boys - particularly the blonde one - who were helping me. He was being very brave as I crumbled.    The dog's owner has now been found. But hopefully the parents of the young lads will see this post.
