Out with Mockney last night.

So spizzered I couldn't remember if I'd paid the bill.

If it's the people that make the place then Dave the barman is a very nice pub! Next time I need to get irrationally tonkered and discuss the Cathars, recent history of Cirencester, Tess of the D'Urbevilles and contemporary pop (when I was right and everyone else was wrong), I shall do it there...

Hurrah!

Just to reiterate that Dave is indeed a very nice pub and I'm sure I'll be back.

I seem to have been given a severe mauling by the beer monkey and his thieving ways, so I'm guessing I contributed to the bill, and probably insisted ;)

(but have no memory whatsoever, I blame the Cathars)

Hmm, you may have paid all the bill Mockney, I distinctly remember behaving like the Hooded Claw at leaving time convinced that we'd paid the bill twice ;-)

Nicky Nu is heading to the tasting at Black & Blue tonite. One suspects that the beer monster is already sneering in his self-righteousness. We shall have to see if there are any free places, or Mockney may well end up pawing at the window like Tiny Tim craving a prosthetic limb....

I object to my own use of the word 'prosthetic'.

The Drum may be very nice and the retro 'Hammer Horror set-in-70s Chelsea' feel of some of the staff is amusing. Only problem is that in the past their opening hours have been a tad irregular. I have sometimes drifted round the corner at a xcivilised hour looking for a quick latte to lift my flagging spirits to find the shutters down. Perhaps a little more regularity might encourage more punters?

Ah 'The Starchy Gallery' - A Triumph In Potatoes-, fantastic isn't it, Space Station 65 is still one of the better things about North Cross. I saw someone had done Botticelli's ?Birth of Venus'. Go to the site and check out Delacroix?s ?Liberty leading The People', genius. The analysis and discussion page is very good too.

    • Hello everyone, We have lost our wonderful moggie, Cookie.  She's been missing for over a week now and was lost around the back of our house on rail track land around Croxted Road/Turney Road junction. Please do keep an eye out for her and if you see her please let us know urgently as she isn't familiar with the area at all, we are very worried.  She has a microchip (with my brother's contact details) She's black with ginger/brown markings, very distinctive. If you have had sightings of her or seen her at anytime please let do let me know, Henna 07941 047094 If you could post on your local/street groups too, I'd be very grateful. Thank you!
