Thank you all so much for your condolences and the lovely tributes. Although Simon's life was limited physically it seems he has touched and inspired many people both face-to-face and on the internet. John K - I'd love to know more about Simon and Victor! Laddy muck, you have a pm The cremation will be in Doncaster on 17th January. We've asked for family flowers only. If anyone would like to make a donation in Simon's memory, the charities he supported are Ruth

I'm sorry to let you know that SimonM, my husband, died this morning in hospital in Sheffield after a short illness. We moved from East Dulwich to Yorkshire last December, back to where Simon grew up, but I know he was still an enthusiastic reader of this forum. Thsoe of you who have met him will know he was severely disabled, and his computer and the internet was his lifeline to the world outside. Thank you all for being such great friends, supporters and sparring partners to Simon, the most wonderful man in the world. RuthMcT

Flats on Underhill Road - Are they having a laugh ?
SimonM replied to AD's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It's only a couple of years sine they were ?950K for all four. Originally they were asking 250K per flat. There's very little storage and no off-road car parkng. -
Except "Mad Dave " is not a world champion in any sport who nursed both parents with terminal cancer whilst training for the championships. You or "Nuts" may not have heard of her, but real sporting journalists/media ought to be in the know.

If "personality" was remotely a factor then Sarah Stevenson ought to have won by a street, never mind shortlisted

For me, SPOTY lost the remains of its credibility when the Man Utd fans fixed it for Ryan Giggs a few years back..

Who done it, please - The Killing/Forbrydelsen

...whereas the American version didn't and left several loose ends, clearly with an eye on a follow-up series... -

I still miss the toy shop...(run by a couple of Belgian cossacks IIRC) And I'm worried about this "calvary regiment"...do the soldiers always look on the bright side of life before being shot/blown to pieces/crushed by their sturdy steeds etc??

Well I certainly wasn't expecting Cora to succumb to Spanish Flu - it would have looked too much of a complete rip-off of Upstairs Downstairs. The fiancee was always odds-on though.

Far better than a hoist is a Mangar - see http://www.mangar.co.uk/product/MPCA030200/bathing-cushion not least because it folds down into a small bag so you can take it anywhere
-
Not sure if that's a serious enquiry, but that's the problem with these baths of course. You have to get in before turning on the water, and stay in them wet and shivering afterwards until the water has drained...:))

If you mean the kind designed for disabled people then avoid them like the plague.

Agree completely with Jah. Here is a little-known ED connection with Sir JS. About 20 years ago when Dulwich Hospital Kidney Patients were raising ?1 million to fund a brand new ward Jimmy made a 4 figure anonymous donation. He kept it anonymous as he did not want to hurt Stoke Mandeville's feelings ! He was seen quite a few times running down Dog Kennel Hill as part of his then route.

Christmas markets in the UK - suggestions please
SimonM replied to lillyanginger's topic in The Lounge
I'd go with York too - big continental market close by the usual one, also close to Betty's tea rooms for a fat rascal >:D< Closer to home Bromley usually has them too -
Well the "jokes" are pretty feeble aren't they? well short of the standard set in the glory days of Aberfan and Lockerbie... But anyway,.... like the rest of the world bar 1 or 2 people, I really do not know what happened in Meredith Kercher's room that night. I believe thought that there's no way the "evidence" offered by the Prosecution came anywhere near proving that Knox and her boyfriend of 2 weeks committed the murder beyond any reasonable doubt. My gut feeling is that they're innocent and even if she makes $1 million from selling her story etc it's not going to compensate for the last 4 years. I am sure the Kercher family must really appreciate the Knox jokes though eh?

They do the rounds in the middle of the night - about 4 am I think? I doubt he'd do much business knocking people up at that hour:))

The lease? Who owns the freeold? Is the College estates? And where will all the foreign language students go in August?! :)-D

Ha! That's just what they want you to think! The works just camouflaged the installation of new computers in The Grid B)

I shall defnitely be watching Athletico Charlton at Bramall Lane, and hoping they get banished back down the M1 with a flea in their ear....>:D

My winkles were fine, but it woke up all the kippers....>:D< -
A terrible night all round for Sheffield, writes one who was at Bramall Lane last night. The only real cheers from the home supporters being when score updates from Stevenage were flashed up on the board :-)
