My daughter turned 6 recently and her big present was a cabin bed. She took some convincing to move to a new room at the back of the house and away from our bedroom but had her first night yesterday and all went well (as she very proudly woke up to tell me at 5 am).

I need some ideas about making her room pretty and functional. We have the bed of course but need a large rug, new curtains and any other little touches. The bed has a small desk, shelves etc. (it's this one http://www.gltc.co.uk/fcp/product/-/bedroom_furniture_midsleeper_bunk_beds/Reece-Midsleeper-Cabin-Bed---White/10000002983)

While she is rather girly now I don't want to go full on girly as I don't want the room to date too quickly!

There was a local woman on here a couple of years ago who had a business selling fabric wall stickers. They were really cool and equally important super easy to put on and take off! Obviously this is useless information if I can't remember what her business was called... Will cast around and try to remember but if no luck then wall stickers in general?

ETA found it!

I highly recommend them.

a warning - my daughter went through the obligatory pink phase at the time that we re-decorated our house and so her room was painted a pale pretty pink (Farrow & Ball no less)

she has now outgrown the pink phase and shows signs of goth-ish leanings, although not yet 9

needless to say, the pink bedroom is no longer in favour, but it's going to be a while before we can afford to redecorate!

We did three white walls and one bright pink one covered in re-usable stickers from B & Q, which to my surprise have withstood various moving around. Thought it would not be too hard to re-paint just one wall when the pink fall-out comes. Also a neutral carpet but with a bright rug, central room lamp shade and girly bedside lamp.

Also had a white flatpack wardrobe from Ikea, which I have let be stickered up to the max with whatever wanted.

Never got round to curtains and still have the blackout blinds from when tiny.

    • He seemed to me to be fully immersed in the Jeremy Corbyn ethos of the Labour Party. I dint think that (and self describing as a Marxist) would have helped much when Labour was changed under Starmer. There was a purge of people as far left as him that he was lucky to survive once in my opinion.   Stuff like this heavy endorsement of Momentum and Corbyn. It doesn't wash with a party that is in actual government.   https://labourlist.org/2020/04/forward-momentum-weve-launched-to-change-it-from-the-bottom-up/
    • I perceive the problem.simply as spending too much without first shoring up the economy.  If the government had reduced borrowing,  and as much as most hate the idea, reduced government deiartment spending (so called austerity) and not bowed to union pressures for pay rises, then encouraged businesses to grow, extra cash would have entered the coffers and at a later stage when the economy was in a stronger position rises in NI or taxes would have a lesser impact, but instead Reeves turned that on its head by increasing ni which has killed growth, increased prices and shimmied the economy.  What's worse is that the perceived 20 billion black hole has increased to 30 billion in a year. Is there a risk that after 5 years it could be as high as 70 billion ???
    • That petition is bananas.   If you want a youth centre there pay the landlord the same rent a Londis would and build it yourself or shut the f**k up to be honest. Wasting our MPs time with this trivial nonsense is appalling. If your kids are still out at 1am on a school night you've got bigger problems than vapes and booze and hot sausage rolls.
