Sue
We had an absolutely fantastic meal (delivered) from Omrith (in Forest Hill Road) last night Really yummy food, big portions, quickly delivered, reasonable prices helped by a 15% Just Eat discount!Much much better than any meal we have had from any Lordship Lane Indian restaurant.Very strongly recommended. Now our go-to restaurant for Indian food! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/242083-omrith/ Share on other sites
binkylilyput
That?s interesting to hear Sue. The only Indian I eat locally is Babur in HOP.....but as a treat as it?s pricey. East Dulwich offerings are dreadful!I often peep in to Omrith but have been put off by it looking empty. What was good about it? What did you have? Extremely tasty, big chunks of fish, good size portion.I am mostly plant-based these days, but have had disappointing veggie main dishes from other Indian restaurants, so played safe. Next time I will try a veggie main.I also had coconut rice, which was delicious, huge portion (had the rest the following day :) ) and it was very well cooked (as in expertly cooked, not overcooked!).My partner had Lamb tikka jalfrezi which he really enjoyed, and cumin rice, ditto. We both shared a Korai mutter paneer (the best mutter paneer I have had for years) and Dingri palak, a veggie side dish.It came with free popadums and that minty yoghurt stuff, but I guess that's standard. We will deffo get takeaways there again. Don't know about eating in as it's a bit of a trek from our neck of the woods (near North Cross Road) but we will investigate the quickest way to get there! Maybe it doesn't exist :)I was going to link to their menu on JustEat, but the page appears to have all my details on!If you google JustEat Omrith SE22, I'm sure the menu will miraculously appear :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/242083-omrith/#findComment-1384512 Share on other sites

fishbiscuits
We used to love Omrith, but we had a pretty strange meal there once (one of the dishes had a glace cherry on top) and we didn't bother going back!! But will give it another go at some point! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/242083-omrith/#findComment-1384667 Share on other sites

I hate glace cherries on anything! That would have put me off as well! Maybe they thought it was a colourful garnish :)) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/242083-omrith/#findComment-1384672 Share on other sites
Sue
Had another takeaway from Omrith tonight.Sadly, although I ordered the Kerala Fish Curry which I enjoyed so much before, it was absolutely horrible and bore no resemblance to the dish I had before, or to the description on the menu. Also the spices were raw.I phoned the restaurant and was more or less just told they would "see me alright next time".I asked if they had a new chef, and got no answer.I complained to Just Eat, who apparently will "investigate". So I don't expect to hear anything more from them.Very disappointed, and sorry I recommended them on here :(The mutter paneer wasn't great either, and nor was the rice :(Does anybody know if this is a permanent change of chef, or a temporary blip? DulwichFox
Must say have Used Omrith a few times Sit Down. Mostly with Curry Club in the past. I have found the place very variable. Certainly not consistent. But that can happen anywhere. Did not want to say anything when Sue first recommended them as I had not been there for a while. Had been thinking of paying them a visit. I tend to find Food and service can be better when You haven't been somewhere for a while. Foxy.
