Reserving parking space - Frogley Road

Dear car owner on Frogley Road (south side),

Stop reserving a parking space with your rubbish bins. It's selfish.

Bins in the road are simply bins blocking the road, there is no such thing as reserving a space.

Watched the occupant of 8 Adys Road do the same thing this morning. Came out of his house, moved his car from outside the house (a minicab by the way), moved 3 wheelie bins into the space where the car was then drove off.

I very kindly moved the wheelie bins back onto the pavement as I didn't want them to be knocked over by another car.

That is incredibly neighbourly of you, salsaboy. You wouldn't want the poor chap's bins damaged, would you?

Sometimes there could be a good reason - e.g. making space for a skip or a delivery lorry.

Yup, and that's a good time to deploy a Note On A Bin to explain. Also the good reason times tend to be very sporadic. Nobody expects skips and lorries each and every day.

I am always really impressed by how kind and considerate people are about bins marking space for moving house etc, and I only recently realised that there are people out there who abuse the system by using it all the time, just for ordinary life! I was shocked, I was!

Moving the bins is all well and good, but I'd prefer he or she didn't put them out there in the first place. Plus passers-by might think I'm the kn*b who reserved the space.
