What did you want to be when you were young and what do you do now?

I would go along with that, plus I have always used the term "working girl", as more of a generalisation for the name as opposed to the derogatory terms often used, in that working to earn money! in whatever capacity. A job is a blooming job! lol!

By the way I wasn't having a dig Chav, what I said was "prettying things up for those feeling guilty about using the services in the first place", i.e. the clientelle in my post.

Yeah.. I'm not saying the majority of the alternatives are wonderful. But 'sex worker' is just plain rubbish.

And whilst (in theory) what you say above may be true, I've never heard a stripper refer to themselves as a 'sex worker' because everyone knows 'sex worker' is just a rubbish term for prostitute (etc etc)

I think it's high time someone came-up with a decent alternative.

Prostitute is in the English Dictionary though:-

pros?ti?tute (prst-tt, -tyt)

n.

1. One who solicits and accepts payment for sex acts.

2. One who sells one's abilities, talent, or name for an unworthy purpose.

tr.v. pros?ti?tut?ed, pros?ti?tut?ing, pros?ti?tutes

1. To offer (oneself or another) for sexual hire.

2. To sell (oneself or one's talent, for example) for an unworthy purpose.

Footballer, rock star, singer/songwriter/musician, usual crap. Been working on newspapers since I was 16. Just another serf. I considered acting for about five minutes once. I should have been on the stage, I rather like it up there. Would like to retire first thing tomorrow morning and maybe write short stories or novels if and when I could be bothered to.

    • I’m currently conducting exploratory research into menstrual health education in UK secondary schools and would really value the insight of PSHE leads, Heads of Year, or pastoral staff.    The research aims to understand:   How the menstrual cycle is currently taught within the RSHE framework Where schools feel confident — and where there may be gaps Whether students are taught and  asking questions around the full menstrual cycle, symptoms, wellbeing and conditions such as PMS/PMDD or endometriosis How schools support students in feeling empowered to understand their bodies and seek help appropriately Whether education around nutrition, lifestyle, and menstrual wellbeing is currently addressed   The long-term goal is to explore whether there is a need for additional, age-appropriate, medically informed support on the menstrual cycle.  I’m not selling a programme and there is no obligation beyond a 30 minute informal chat online (Unpaid). All conversations will be confidential and used only to inform the research. If you work in a UK secondary school and would be willing to share your perspective, I would be extremely grateful to hear from you.
