Junior football trials- Dulwich Hamlets FC

6-14 year olds

If your energetic offspring are keen to play good football to a high standard then DHFC are looking for new players

(particularly 8-9 year olds)

My Son is obsessed with the game & has been training with the club this year. It's the most welcoming and considerate/passionate bunch of coaches i've come across. My youngest loves it & we look forward to the training each week

( no shouty parents on the side-lines - which in itself is a joy )

I should tell you Nette that most of my son's football career was spent playing for DHJFC.I have so many fantastic memories of some of his games and especially the year they got to the London Cup semi-final as complete underdogs. However there were teams who had not just shouty parents but obnoxious ones too. I'm glad to say that the parents of the teams he played in were great as were his coaches. Actually one of his team-mates plays for the DH senior team nowadays.

I have to say one of the best speeches I ever heard (third only to Henry V and Tim Collins) was the coach for Millwall Lionesses, some years' ago. It was about what was expected of the players and parents, was so uplifting I was weeping by the end of it.

Alas, some of the parents seemed to have filtered it out.

Booooo

Rain stops play

Rescheduled until next week ( I think )

Still, at least I got to stand round on Peckham Rye in the pouring rain, whilst the-golden-child ran his energy off

And that's a good thing

A bit bonkers, but not as bonkers the man jogging in bare feet

    • Colin.    One for the old school.   Just saying.
    • Signed, and I will share it elsewhere, thank you for posting this. It's got nearly 70,000 signatures at present, and apparently runs till February.
    • There’s a couple of Gov petitions going on in relation to fireworks at the moment but this one is for banning them entirely except organised displays if anyone wants to sign. This is the only sensible way forward in my view. No one should be able to let them off in gardens or anywhere like that, it’s crazy. I am surprised some of you have said it hasn’t been as bad this year. I live near DKH Saino and it’s been absolutely terrible my way for days. This petition gained about 20,000 just in the last day or so so clearly the appetite is there! https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/732559
    • I'd have thought they could use some of  their income from hiring out a large part of Brockwell Park in the summer (therefore, as I understand it, preventing local residents from using much of it) to put on a firework display there  in the autumn which might somewhat make up to those residents for the previous loss of use of the park. And also generate goodwill.
