Hi everyone,

I just moved from Switzerland to East Dulwich a little less than 2 months ago and so far have struggled getting to know anyone (mostly because I?m shy in social situations) so I figured I?d try the forum. :) (I hope this is the right section for this.)

I?m pretty chill and would love to connect with people of all ages, backgrounds and interests, male or female, singles, couples, families, ? (I myself am 28, female, single, no kids but love children, currently no pets but absolutely a dog person).

are there any local ?meetups? where my awkward self could try and get to know people? or would anyone be interested in meeting for coffee or a walk in one of the lovely parks?

I?ve already checked meetup.com, but would prefer getting to know people who specifically live in ED since I?m a bit of a homebody and prefer to stay in or around this wonderful area as much as I can (other than work).

related to this, is anyone else likely going to be alone for Christmas and would like to maybe do something one or both days?

Cheers,

Tanja

Hi Tanja,

Welcome to East Dulwich!

It's not like me to throw myself out there, because much like yourself, I'm very socially shy & awkward. Just call me the Newt Scamander {Fantastic Beasts} of East Dulwich??? 😅

I like to spend the majority of my time around animals {I'm the girl behind a local & personal cat sitting service called "The Wingless Bird"}, but my background is in fashion, floral & web design. I'm very much a Libra so I'm easy to connect with.

Because I work so locally, I'm always around between 11-2pm on my lunch breaks. Count me in for a coffee meet up/gathering or if you just ever need a hand with anything, I'd love to be someone you can call on for help!

Warmest wishes,

Heather

I'm unsure if you work, or study, but volunteering is a great way to meet people and get out there? Also check book groups etc in What's On?

give him a break boab, he's got a moped to sell.

    • £30-40 for M&S Christmas food for two seems very low! And only £60 for food and drink for 8-10 people?  We have had M&S food at Christmas in the past, and it came to a lot more than that. I suppose it depends exactly what you are buying. We left it late to book a Christmas Day meal out last year, so there weren't many options left.  The Cherry Tree menu looked very nice. That was our first mistake. We also overlooked the fact that it was a Young's pub, with all that implies about the food. That was our second mistake. We don't have shedloads of money. We  took the view that we deserved a nice meal  out after working bloody hard all year. So it was doubly disappointing to basically waste a lot of money which could have been very much better  spent elsewhere.
    • No sweetheart. It is a fantastic sermon which should be shared. It is a rights-based sermon which received a standing ovation - if you can be bothered to get to the end.
    • Welcome back. What have voting intentions got to do with this thread? And much as you may hate the present incarnation of so-called Labour, as do I,  I don't think it is true that they have "not done a single positive thing for working class people", is it? And how exactly are you defining "working class people", anyway?
    • I can’t bear the media “is this racist comment racist” angle taken to reporting it. I feel like she’s a useful out rider for Farage to test how far they can take their rhetoric - it’s not the first time she’s said things that cross over the line. Overt racism is becoming far more commonplace and it’s deeply concerning.
