Siduhe
I was thinking the same. My abiding memory was the local pharmacy suggesting it would open longer hours including evenings and weekends, as a way of opposing the application. If I remember correctly, the offer of extended hours didn't last long after the application was turned down.http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,48351,page=15 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24442-100-hr-pharmacy-in-cpalace-rd/#findComment-559455 Share on other sites

Sue
Oh FFS.It was because I felt so strongly about this all those years ago - after, if memory serves, somebody was getting people to sign a petition against it outside the North Cross Road pharmacy - that I googled the issue and first came upon this forum.Do people honestly think that addicts responsible enough to be using a needle exchange are some sort of danger to the public, including small children?Get a grip. You're probably unknowingly working with some of them. James Barber
I'm really disappointed that the Dulwich Medical Centre is reapplying for what was so vehemently opposed only a few years ago. I don't recall a local referendum on the matter. the-e-dealer
There was quite a lot of opposition mainly based on mis-apprehension and prejudice. There wasn't a referendum but there were petitions and a planning meeting. henryb
You wouldn't go all the way to a needle exchange then at door go - "ah sod it" and throw them on floor. James Barber
Much of the opposition was related to keeping local shopping areas vital and not adding a 100hour pharmacy to a residential street. The needle exchange is the trojan horse for the pharmacy. Sue
Fair enough, but many GP's surgeries have pharmacies attached. It's obviously much more convenient for the patients to be able to get their prescriptions immediately. James Barber
Not sure that local pharmacies are that far from DMC and they all provide repeat facilities. Also from a governance perspective it seems wise for GP's NOT to profit from the pharmacy function and good pharmacists act as a check on what is prescribed which would be harder to do when your salary comes fro mthe GP's you might need to correct. Sue
James Barber Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Not sure that local pharmacies are that far from> DMC xxxxxVery recently I was ill, and it was a real effort to walk from DMC to the nearest pharmacy in North Cross Road to get my prescription made up, and then walk back to my house, even though had I been well it is a very easy short walk. Monkey
Surely Dr Gupta should be concentrating on fixing the problems at his surgery before expanding his business. It's not like he does not have lots on his hands already: recruiting enough gps for the number of patients registered at his surgery, fixing staff morale issues which mean gps never stay very long, ensuring phones are answered promptly, and in the meantime perhaps handing out coffees to people queuing from 7.30am outside his surgery to make an appointment. Sue
They are apparently putting in a new computer system next month. No idea whether that will help with all the perceived problems, but it would be great if you were able to book appointments online.
