My understanding is GE still want to proceed with (request for) using outside courtyard smoking space for drinking/serving drinks ?

This will create noise for those living close by whereas that space I believe was never previously used.

Lets all go together !

NO NO NO WE DONT WANT LATE DRINKING

NO NO NO OUR CHILDREN NEED THEIR SLEEP

NO NO NO PUBS TO CLOSE AT 11pm

Come on everyone, lets stand as one, ED is amazing, we want baby clubs and dog poo bins instead

ED is like, sooooooo amazing!

I think we should all hold hands

I thought people in ED were meant to be friendly and happy and clap and sing and play connect 4 in their local pub surrounded by children?

CLEARLY you don?t belong in ED with such a horribly rude attitude.

But I forgive you. In my heart, we?re friends (but not lovers).

"There's a distinct lack of sky sports around the area now"

That's surely not an accident. It tends to attract groups of older blokes. These pubs want trendy young couples and families.

whilst there have been a vast number of objections that wouldnt necessarily mean an automatic refuseful. not only would the objections be judged to be relative to the application issues theyd also need to concern the licensing objectives and based on that. its not a simple case of sorting thru a yes no pile there are rules and if those objections dont effect the objectives then they wont count. the establishment also have the opportunity thruout he application to respond to objections both to those objecting and to the council again, changing the possible outcome. so its not a simple case of saying there are so many objections so it will obviously be refused as its not how things r done.

the establishments "lack of involvement on this thread" is very wise. the edf is not an official platform for such things and as popular as the edf if it does not represent everyone in ed or the surrounding areas.

    • Look, I can see you feel very strongly about it, but there’s a whole load of people for whom it does not bother one bit.
    • Thanks to everyone who replied in this thread. Genuinely helpful information, observations and thoughts... and helps restore my broader faith in humnanity! Also, my bank just told me someone called them saying they had found my card on Crystal Palace Road. Thank you people of East Dulwich ❤️.
    • still on the look out for your unused / unloved cd collections around all weekend best Tim
    • But that's the point isn't it Mal, if you go to Glastonbury you are with a hundred thousand other people in the wilds of the country and you cannot complain about noise disruption - you can be selective about where you camp of course.  The Glasto organisers and local council go out of their way to keep the locals onside - friends of mine used to live in a village some miles from Worthy Farm and would be offered free tickets. But there are a lot of people in Dulwich and Herne Hill and Brixton who have huge amounts of disruption thrust upon them because this is, after all, a densely populated urban area and not deepest Somerset.  Councils want to monetise our public spaces as much as they can but this is often in conflict with the needs and wants of their constituents who live nearby. What is happening in Brockwell is a warning as Southwark will want to try and monetise Peckham Rye to the same extent if they can.
