Peckhamnearbe
hiRecently we had to take up our engineered oak flooring as above to deal with a damp problem. Apart from the slight damage caused by it being taken up, most lengths were in quite good nick. Unfortunately most of the wood was taken away by the builders and dumped, and just a 2 square meters left. Rather than throw this away I put a post on LewishamFreecycle that it was available for perhaps garden use. I was surprised when a gentleman who is on a zero hours contract and has health issues immediately contacted asking for the wood - he wanted to use the flooring for his flat. Unfortunately what I had was not enough for him and we lamented that we hadn't thought about recycling the flooring. So, if you are doing work and something is coming up and will be thrown away or dumped, please think of offering it on Freecycle as there may be someone who would want exactly what you are going to be dumping. You will be helping the environment and someone who is not able to buy.By the way the gentleman is still looking for a suitable amount of flooring.Thanks.
