Team GB - you absolutely ROCK!

Recommended Posts

It is so important for youngsters to be into sport from an early age so they develop habits of fitness and muscle tone, not to mention the discipline and ability to work as a team that come with being involved in sport.

It can be tricky in London but what do you do to ensure your children become enthusiastic about sport? Especially over the winter.... We play a lot of tennis and playdates are generally kicking a ball in the park, then dinner. More ideas welcome.

Well, we take our two swimming quite reguarly, I used to dive for my county in my teens *preens*. We're also a family of avid cyclers, and the moment our eldest was old enough for a bike seat (Hamax Smiley, when he was about ten months old) we got one, and he goes on the bike a lot. Now we have an adventure AT3 trailer which we wheel both babies around in, so although they're not actually cycling yet (save for my eldest's balance bike) they're familiar and comfortable with bikes. Southwark have an excellent gymnastics club, which is held at Brunswick Park primary school, in SE5 here: http://www.southwarkgymnastics.co.uk/

JAGS have a tonne of stuff for children over the weekend; our son loved trampolining on a Saturday, my husband's work schedule means that he's been unable to take him for a few months which is unfortunate.

Honestly when it comes to sport, I think we're spolit for choice locally.

    • Thank you for your replies all. Elloriac, I followed your advice: I filled out the form and they said they would collect today. So I left the sharps bins on my front door last night, with a not like you said and this morning they were all gone! Fantastic.
    • I feel like I need a 'Rory Stewart' style quick explanation on the debate around Dulwich LTN. Would anyone have any pointers to a balanced summary? I'm moving to the village soon and I feel like I need to understand this better given the strength of sentiment expressed on some of these threads. Any help appreciated!
    • I think you're imagining too much into this. I've never heard of 'Theweekend' (unless my wife is posting without me knowing!) I find it disappointing that you automatically assume I'm either stupid (can't cook!) or evil (on a vendetta against a shop). I'm not sure what you think my motive might be, but I've no animosity towards that shop. It's not very nice when you share an experience on this forum and old timers brigade you, dismiss what you say and blame you for something unpleasant that that happened to you. Imagine if this was you. Personally, I think their chicken thigh supplier is not good. I used to shop in Smithfield and I know most butchers just buy them in 5kg tubs. Voila.
