JOM Junior Open Mic

Sunday 15th March 2020 2-4.30pm

Off The Cuff Music Bar, Railton Road, Herne Hill

Come and see or take part in the largest Junior Open Mic in the UK. Between 15 and 25 acts ranging from ages 4 to 17. To perform, just turn up at 1.45pm and register. All free. Your performance will be professionally engineered for sound. There is a supportive friendly family audience. All acts get a free drink token and younger performers get a certificate of bravery. There is no pressure to perform.

Prior to the Junior Open Mic we also have free sessions where young people can perform on stage in private (or they select a small family audience). This is a great way to nurture creativity beyond performing at home and build confidence. A good starting point is to sing on stage with a backing track. Please book in advance.

Equipment: Purpose built music stage featuring 8 SM58 vocal mics. 6 Instrument mics. Full Size Roland Keyboard, Bass, Acoustic + Electric Guitar Amps, fully mic'd up house drum kit, monitor speaker, main speakers, full mixing desk. Professional sound engineer. V good sound.

JOM is a community org who organise youth music events ? mainly Junior Open Mics. See instagram.com/JOM_junior_open_mic for a sample of prior JOM sessions. [email protected]

    • They’ve backed away from pretending they produce their own goods recently. That claim sat at the centre of the misdirection for years. They’ve now accepted they can’t sustain it, so they’re beginning to highlight the local independent bakeries whose products they actually sell. The business is essentially a courier model running on a slim margin.
    • Another sparrow hawk visor to our cherry tree at the weekend.  Our robin survived, but we may be a sparrow down.     any thoughts on bird feeders & bird baths with the current bird flu?  I try to wash out the bird bath most days when at home, but not on the 3 days in a row that I’m in the office & the bird feeders rather less regularly. Would it be better not to have at all (as my partner thinks)?
    • OOOPS. My daughter just had to pay a five pound fine. I hadn't put a stamp on it. I remember wondering whether to use a  first or second class stamp,  and clearly when I posted it I still hadn't decided (but sadly didn't notice). I feel really bad for suspecting a postie might have  opened it.  Sorry posties.
