Just discovered that Amazon have a locker system at the Co-op where you're able to order online and collect your goods from the Co-op next day.

I'm interested in hearing how people have used this system espcially as the Amazon locker in the Co-op is my nearest outlet to where I live.

Do you have to pay extra for this?

Normally Amazon charge extra for next day delivery, whereas it's usually free if you can wait a few days.

I think in theory the locker system is a good idea, and if you live some way from the Royal Mail delivery office then it seems useful, but personally I wouldn't use it if I had to pay.

moneysavingexpert says teh following:

"How much is delivery?

There is no additional charge for using a locker, although you won't be able to select free delivery. Shoppers must pay up to ?4.28 per delivery plus up to ?1.73 per item.

However, fee-paying Amazon Prime customers will be able to get free one-day and first class delivery to the lockers"

Sue,

As SJ said, there's no additional charge for using a locker. The locker is only available if you select Amazon prime, courier or 1st class delivery option.

For ist class delivery cost see here http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=11072961 . Delivery rate can be as little as ?1.49 whereas if you order a number of electronic goods then there's a flat rate of ?3.99.

Main advantage in using Amazon lockers is that you can collect your package up to 10pm each day whereas the Royal Mail have restricted opening hours. Not very good if you work during normal working hours and like a lie-in on a Saturday morning.

I suppose if they made the service completely free of delivery charges then getting a locker becomes an issue, Sue.

I've used Amazon prime before last december but Yodel/HDNL, who delivered my package, threw it into my back garden. Subsequently, my Amazon prime was ended soon after. The biggest problem with the locker system is that Amazon still uses Yodel to deliver packages unless you go for a more premium courier service.

Also agree, that if you aren't working there there is no real need for a premium delivery service though missing Royal Mail deliveries makes acase.

    • Yes, there's no way anyone would want a Wi-Fi hub in Lordship Lane. Absolutely pointless. Anyone who actually wants or needs to communicate or access data will already have their 5G phone or satellite phone on them to get fast data. And of course we are lucky that we have such a strong and unbroken mobile signal from all suppliers locally. With no dead spots.
    • I see from the Site Notice https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/files/B867B0B45973C03BE4D45CE4513BDE35/pdf/25_AP_2825-SITE_NOTICE-4151698.pdf that the "Comment by" date is 5 November. My understanding is that comments submitted after that date can and ?will still be considered if the decision-making hasn't yet been done; so I wouldn't let the date in itself deter you if you  want to comment now.   Was the site notice actually posted near the location, btw?
    • Whilst reading about what was Poundland, I saw that BT has applied to install (block the pavement with) one of its large screen advertising 'street hubs' outside the building. This seems like a terrible idea in my opinion - others may disagree - but you might want to look at the planning application and comment. There is still a day or two to do so.  Here's the relevant application 25/AP/2825 https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=T3G4H5KBH1500 and how it will look https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/files/BDF327FA0103A31946387A251B9C9D45/pdf/25_AP_2825-ELEVATION_PLAN-4143504.pdf
    • Hi there, I'm looking for a running buggy so I can take my little boy (15 months) out and about - I've seen the Thule and Out 'n' About ones at the parkrun a lot but really looking for something second hand that has good tyres.... thanks in advance!
