Hi goldilocks. NHS 111 said calpol and nurofen together. Which he as taken. Temp as gone down to 38. 111 said he needs further assessment and some will call me back within 2 days. And he may require testing. Just got him to drink some juice! Self isolate for 7 days just in case

In general, if young children get Covid-19 then it is quite mild for them, it appears, although there are always exceptions to any rule. However there are many things out there ('normal' flu being one) which young children can also catch, and which may be far more uncomfortable for them. Follow the advice you are getting - and hydration is particularly important for children - with a temperature they will be losing moisture.

Guardian article today that may be worth reading on how ibuprofen is not wise to take for Covid-19 (which I pray your little one does not have).

The Guardian article was sourced from the French Health Minister's twitter feed, which was later believed to have been hacked. So it is possible that the advice against using anti-inflammatories is wrong. Or not. It's probably safer to stick to paracetamol for now, but it may not be necessary. If you have been taking Ibuprofen maybe stop, but don't worry unnecessarily.

Anyway Calpol for a child is much safer - make sure any drug you give is specified for the right age.

    • So - after spending weeks lying about everyone else, not to mention yesterday’s disgusting comments about Rob Reiner, Trump is officially suing BBC for 10 billion  the gall of that creature.  And anyone who defends him.  He cares nothing about “truth” Telegraph/guardian/times all reporting 10 billion.   However in bbc  news they are saying 5.  Hmmmmm
    • Piotr and his team just completed our ensuite and we couldn’t be happier. They were a lovely team to have around and took great care with protection and clean-up every day. Communication was great and there were no nasty surprises with the final invoice despite a few challenges with the room along the way. The standard of work is incredible. We still can’t believe this room is in our house!

    • What has that got to do with their being potentially terrified when loud fireworks are set off? To the best of my knowledge nobody is suggesting the firework noise is actually killing the animals.
