Ok, this is pretty cool, some well known kids authors are making videos of their stories to entertain our kids:

Celebs reading stories (if you care, they do put on a bit more of a show than most) is available on the BBC Iplayer app for free https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/b00jdlm2/cbeebies-bedtime-stories

If your kids are musically inclined this is a good free sampler app. It gives really young ones a chance to just bash about and still make a tune and older ones the chance to genuinely make some danceable to music.

If you have the space and time, pull out all of your kids toys together, from everywhere. It?s a good way to sort them out (don?t start threatening to chuck unused stuff, that?s not fun) and you will be surprised what old games and activities you find that they had forgotten about to occupy a few days of fun.

Unfortunately The Book People are closing down. This does however mean good deals to be had on both kids and adults books.

There?s a Hobbies, Interest and Puzzles section and Children?s Activities section that may be useful.

J.K Rowling is releasing the audiobook (read by Jude Law) of Tales of Beedle the Bard this Tuesday here https://www.audible.co.uk/pd/The-Tales-of-Beedle-the-Bard-Audiobook/1781103798?qid=1585208899&sr=1-1&ref=a_search_c3_lProduct_1_1&pf_rd_p=c6e316b8-14da-418d-8f91-b3cad83c5183&pf_rd_r=3P1GRP61632X13X04M7G

To celebrate, why not turn your house into Hogwarts this week. Gotta be the best school out there.

Make yourself into a suitable teacher with a graduation cap style hat out of board and a cape.

Make some wands out of garden twigs and paint them or wrap with foil etc and let your kid pick the wand they want for the week (or let the wand pick them you are a stickler (get it?) for the book.

Make a sorting hat. Instead of choosing a House it can contain fun things or treats (written on paper) and they get to pick from it once a day or every now and then.

Decorate the room with anything spooky or Hogwartsish.

If you are into ?lessons?, theme them eg Magic (Science), Spells (poetry) etc etc.

Invent your own butterbeer (coke floats anyone?)

Challenge them in some activity to win a golden snitch (ferrero rocher with paper wings stuck on).

This one is a paid for product, however the money is for UNICEF so worth considering if your child likes Paddington.

?Looking for fun ways to spend extra time with your children at home? Paddington Bear will deliver adventure through your letter box, teaching your child about countries around the world.?

    • I personally think is a great idea Bobbly and would love if there was a section for it. I wouldn't offer free gardening under the "for sale" section as I would expect something in exchange and wouldn't expect our cat being looked after for free under the "wanted" section, as an example.
    • Looking for used decking boards. Should be hardwood
    • I have fond memories of Govinda's I used to go there  back in the 90's (maybe earlier) for an affordable tasty lunch..I was wondering if its still around. Now I have to make a point of going there. Does anyone else remember a really affordable basement cafe run by the church in a street off of Golden Square? parallel to Regent Street? I also used to love the Vegetarian cafe on Neal Street in the basement (Neal Street Cafe?) and there was an inczredible inexpensive authentic Japanese resturant I use to go to with my Japanese friends (who introduced me to it) tucked away behind Long Acre where that brown brick modern building ('modern' I think it went up in the 90's!) now stands that fronts Long Acre and Neal Street..I think it was called Asakasa or something?
    • I wonder where he could be deported to, Hungary the obvious candidate in Europe, perhaps he would get on well with Modi?   Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage both said Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood should look at whether Abd El Fattah's citizenship could be revoked to enable his swift removal from the UK. Farage said in a letter to Mahmood: "It should go without saying that anyone who possesses racist and anti-British views such as those of [Mr Abd El Fattah] should not be allowed into the UK." So just racists views are ok Nige?
