Bike racks - Herne Hill Station

I need to travel to work using Herne Hill Station on Monday, can anyone advise the best / safest location to leave a bike please?

There are bike racks outside the station that seem fairly busy and well-used. How safe they are, I can't comment since I'm usually riding past rather than leaving one. But there are quite a few local cafes and bars with tables outside so you'd like to think that someone would spot someone with an angle grinder trying to nick bikes.

What Applesideer said, the last time I was there, there were also a few racks inside the station concourse.

The best thing to do is invest in a couple of high quality locks. Speak to a bike shop about other anti-theft measures...

I hate to say this, but no bike lock is a 100% safe. Someone with an angle grinder can easily steal a bike in full public view without anyone intervening.

Thieves are likely to target bikes at stations because they know an owner is going to be away for some time.

The ones on the Brixton side of the station are probably safer due to the shops that overlook them, but they're more popular because of that so you'd need to get there early.

Good idea - they need to have longer opening times though. 7.30pm is not late enough on a work day. If you could do 24 hour access like a storage centre...then we are talking.

Yeah I know. But access is only through the shop and 24 hour manned security may push up the cost of parking rental. Currently, security consists of a receptionist directly opposite the parking, workshop staff and shop staff nearby.
