Hello everyone!

My girlfriend and I will be moving to East Dulwich soon. We have not lived there before but have had an offer accepted on a house on Abbotswood Road.

Wondering if anyone can offer any thoughts on the area? Is that road a 'good' choice?

Also, I am looking to get fit and was wondering if anyone can recommend some sports clubs? I currently do Muay Thai and Boxing, so was thinking of joining this place:

Hi Ilyamah - come and check out the Back to Netball scheme - its moving to Monday evening 6-7pm at Harris Girls Academy from Monday 3rd September cost only ?3 and its designed for people who have never played before or haven't played for a while. Our last session at JAGS sports club nr North Dulwich station is next Wednesday at 7-8pm. The sessions are ?3 and the monday night ones will be indoors. Its been a great way to meet local people for me and its for all ages. If you search this forum there are contact details for the coach Rachael.

Welcome to ED!

HI Maritap - the Netball is open to all ages (and we have had some players in your age range at the JAGS sessions recently)so please do come along :-)

We had a write up in the SE Mags this month too - see page 47 of the attached online version:

Couple of other notes - the monday sessions are going to be indoors so we won't be a slave to the weather any longer and there is also a session starting in the Waterloo/Southwark area at the Colombo Centre which will be on Thursdays at 6.30-7.30pm and is totally FREE. I know this is out of area technically but it is perfect for peeps like me who work in London Bridge. Fulle details of both sessions below:

    • Bumpkin I’d say feed and clean.    The RSPB say garden birds are low risk for avian flu but take precautions and clean feeders and birdbaths regularly.    Birds will be starting to nest soon and food you put out can at least feed the parents so they can feed live food to the young who can’t take seed yet.    It’s reccomended to wear gloves and clean feeders/birdbaths with mild disinfectant weekly.
    • We had a take-away from Aroma Lab last night. I was impressed, utterly delicious stir fried tofu and sweet and sour chicken. Generous portions too… will definitely make a habit of eating their home-cooked food.
    • I think that's a big assumption.  Many people vote for the candidate precisely because they are a member of a particular party and represent that party's policiies.  I personally didn't know who McAsh was in the last election, but I knew what party he represented.  When politicians don't act "morally" what are we to think of them and their motivations? But I think there will be people who want to vote Labour, don't know that McAsh has defected and accidentally vote Green precisely because they do vote for the name.  Yes, you could say they need to read the ballot paper more carefully but it's possible to see one thing and not notice another.
