Upon my early morning walk just now, I saw an incident in Peckham Rye Park (pretty much 7am exactly). It was in the middle of the large patch of grass in the eastern side of the park, in the middle of where football matches are normally played.

A man ? mid 40?s with shaved head, dark clothes and small black dog

A woman, possibly older, - greenish coat and small brown/orange dog

Not sure 100% how it started, but it seems something happened between the dogs. The man gets pretty aggressive and is remonstrating quite a bit with the woman, shouting things I couldn?t hear. She (impressively) seemed to stand her ground, and perhaps argued back.

Another male dog walker would have seen the start of the incident, seemed to look at them for a bit, before moving on.

I was around the perimeter of the park, but kept in a place where I could see them. I was reluctant to go over, as I?d had a previous incident with the man 18 months ago (long story short- I'd pressed charges which were dropped) and believe my presence would only have antagonised the situation.

Fortunately, a park warden (I think he was a warden as he had an orange jacket) went over. It seemed to eventually calm down with his intervention, and I decided to leave.

Just to say, I hope the woman is ok. If she wants a witness to what happened, she knows where to find me, as it's completely unacceptable for a man to act that way to a woman in broad daylight. I'll separately mention it to the park warden.

Unbelievably, saw the same guy again today (in roughly the same place).

He made a beeline for me, and I climbed over the fence to the fenced-off no dogs picnic area. He then starts shouting at some nearby women.

I'll notify the authorities, but just warning people on early morning walks in the park to be vigilant.

    • It was a reactionary post and inappropriate when talking about a real case and a real person who was harmed.  London streets are generally pretty safe.  Sadly violent crime happens from time to time, as it always has.
    • Do tell, CPR Dave, what the spiteful jealous stuff is - I'm intrigued.  Agree - Burnham is a top class communicator (polar opposite of Starmer) he'd do a great job of uniting the party. I still think Wes Streeting has the edge, though I'm sure he has more enemies as well.
    • This is a huge part of the problem.   Starmer is only interested in himself, not in what is best for our country.    There's a litany of stuff he's done for spiteful jealous personal reasons which has damaged the nation enormously. Burnham would be a much better leader than of the other dross left behind when Starmer goes. To inflict a worse leader (and PM) upon us for his own selfish reasons would add to the problems and be entirely in keeping with his woeful premiership so far.
    • I heard today there was a burglary in Lacon Road yesterday evening between 20.00 - 22.00,  apparently the owners were home at the time & thieves got away with electrical items along with the owners car!  Wtf!   Anyone heard anything else?
