steveo
The Virgin broadband goes into my Mac and has been used wirelessly on a PC laptop in another room now for about a year. Now, it won't connect to Virgin or it connects and then drops. As far as I'm aware nothing has changed since Monday.Any thoughts oh great learned ones?Steveo Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25346-laptopwireless-advice/ Share on other sites
red devil
When you say your 'Virgin broadband goes into my Mac', do you mean directly via a cable? And what now 'won't connect', the Mac or your wireless PC? Loz
Not wanting to sound all IT Crowd, but have you tried turning the router off and back on again? The Virgin hubs are not the most stable. steveo
The wire goes from the router to the Mac. The Mac is fine. It's the wireless PC that won't connect. It can see the Virgin but can't connect.I've turned the hub off and on a zillion times Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25346-laptopwireless-advice/#findComment-572969 Share on other sites
the-e-dealer
Try deleting the wireless connection on the pc then reestablishing it Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25346-laptopwireless-advice/#findComment-572973 Share on other sites
Loz
If the e-dealer's advice doesn't work... then have you tried changing the wireless channel? You may have a clash with a neighbour who has just installed new broadband.Assuming you have a Super Hub...1) Login into your router (192.168.0.1 - the admin password is on the router, if you haven't changed it).2) Go to WiFi Wireless Network Settings.3) Your channel is probably set to 'Auto'. Try setting a channel - 1, 3 and 11 are usually good ones to try.4) Save settings and retry connecting.Download 'NetStumbler' (Windows only) if you want to see the neighbourhood wireless channels and strengths.
