oimissus
does anyone know if there's a drop in place to see a health visitor - I can't get to our surgery's baby clinic and I don't think I need to see a doctor, but it seems a bit ridiculous having a home visit for someone to look at Miss Oi's vicious nappy rash that isn't going away. All I'm after is some suggestions for dealing with it! Thanks. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25405-drop-in-health-visitors/ Share on other sites
Monkey
It's probably gone fungal. Depending on Miss Oi's age, you might be able to get some Canesten over the counter. Speak to your pharmacist. If that's not possible, you can go to the Lister drop in centre in Peckham and ask to see a GP.I would not bother with health visitors for a nasty nappy rash. Most of them have no medical qualifications. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25405-drop-in-health-visitors/#findComment-573835 Share on other sites
oimissus
ah, thanks Monkey, that's very helpful and totally makes sense as it looks like a kind of heat rash gone bad, rather than the kind of baby red-bottom-from-poo nappy rash. You might be muddling them with the nursery nurses/support staff who help in clinics with weighing the babies/basic duties. My experience has been that as soon as you ask a question/say you need to speak to the HV, you get pointed in their direction/go into their queue to be seen.Oimissus - if you call up your HV team & leave a msg they'll be able to get back to you asap & let you know if there is drop in - seem to remember there being an HV clinic at the albrighton centre on a Tues 1.30-3pm. If you haven't already might be worth trying lots of nappy free time (easier daytime than over night!) & metanium cream has always worked for bugglet x Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25405-drop-in-health-visitors/#findComment-573941 Share on other sites
Monkey
You're right buggie. I am sure my hv informed me otherwise but I had just given birth so who knows. What is certain though is that my hv never returned my calls! :-) sorry everyone for giving the wrong info.
