Bumpkin
Hi, we're in the ground floor of a Victorian conversion and have had rats in the wall for ages on and off. They have got worse recently and broken through to our upstairs neighbour and we need to sort. We had a company round that have done a thorough survey with cameras and confirmed that we need to install one way flaps in the sewer - they have quoted us ?6k do to that including lining the sewer and very thorough rat proofing. We really can't afford that right now - has anyone else had a similar situation and could advise on anyone they have used to install sewer flaps slightly more cheaply?!!! AlannahH
Hi,I have exactly the same problem as you and am at the same stage at the moment. I have spoken to Roger at ?critter solutions? who has loads of recommendations on this forum. He has suggested to contact Thames water for a survey as the sewers are their responsibility.I have contacted Thames water and they have said I have to have a Southwark Council round before they will come. Southwark council pest control are only visiting in emergencies at the moment...mine doesn?t count as an emergency as no rats are in the house just under the floorboards. So I?m a bit stuck- sorry not to be more helpful...would be keen to follow to see if anyone else has any good suggestions. tomdhu
There are various inserts available that can be inserted without any great effort. They come with a long handle so that one can insert it without you having to get your hands dirty. They are not cheap but do work and can be extracted again when not required. The rats will quickly learn which pipes are blocked off and will avoid in future.Suggest a google for "rat blocker" or drain guard and look for something like these...
