Looking for space for a community bakery

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I?m new here, my name is Holly and i?m a freelance baker/pastry chef. I live in Forest Hill and am currently running a community micro bakery out of my flat. Most of my freelance work disappeared a the beginning of lockdown, so I decided to bake from home instead!

I am now considering expanding, and am on the lookout for a premise to let in the local area - a shop, warehouse/industrial space or production kitchen - if anyone knows of anything, please do get in touch. Any leads it would be most appreciated!

If you are interested in what i?ve been up to, Service Abnormal, a group of filmmakers documenting London?s adjusting food industry, came to pay me a socially distanced visit towards the end of a prep day for the bakery. The interview they recorded can be viewed on my website at the link below?

Thankyou!

Holly

    • Reform have not taken over Southwark council and reviewed the spend, so that's not helpful.
    • Well, shrove Tuesday is Mardi Gras in many countries, an occasion marked with fireworks etc., so could be. Today is also the start of Ramadan: I’m familiar with fireworks marking end of Ramadan but the beginning?
    • Oh I agree - we shouldn’t just blank cheque anyone  but I would still say as we aren’t running a council it’s difficult to be part of the decision making process and understand what the cost-benefit of something we see as wastage is versus something else  The fact that ideological purists like reform think they can take over a council and boast about the savings only to find they can’t suggests a wider picture
