Hi all,

My partner and I are about to submit a planning application for a side extension on our ground floor flat in East Dulwich. We note that the majority of the deigns people go for include a small courtyard/lightwell outside the groundfloor bedroom window. We would like to utilise this space within the flat itself, perhaps as an en suite or walk in wardrobe, but we understand the reason people have the courtyard, is to provide an 'outlook' from that bedroom. We're hoping we can get around this by having a window above the roofline of the extension, providing plenty of natural light and even a bit of an outlook given the property steps down at the back. Attached is a photo of a project we found in Fulham that did this successfully.

Has anyone had or know of anyone that has had this design approved on a ground floor flat in Southwark? Or does anyone have any advice/experience they could share?

Thank you very much in advance!

    • Someone or some people have stolen the Nissan  badges from my ancient Micra, which definitely did not have anything of value lurking beneath them, including the car. Not sure if this is their  stupidity or just random vandalism.

    • Admittedly I have not gone  through that application with a fine tooth comb, riveting though it is (thank you for posting the link). However,  unless I have misunderstood, within the documents it says that  there are eleven properties associated with the application. Could someone at Tesco have made a mistake with the address,  and in fact it has nothing to do with Poundland? Sorry, somehow I have duplicated my own post, and I'm not sure how to remove the duplicate. DUH.
    • Surely it is not an "advert" for councillors? Why do you put "local" in inverted commas? Why the (lol)? What is so amusing? The board  is telling people who their councillors are. What on earth is "frivolous" about that? If you are so  concerned about the lack of information on the boards, why don't you do something about it (eg contact your local councillor with suggestions) instead of moaning on here?
