Has my 12wko outgrown the bugaboo bee cocoon already? What do I do?!

... He seems really uncomfortable. The straps don't seem to fit him properly and seem very tight around his bottom even though they're on the longest setting.

He's only 12wks! Has reasonably good head control but can't sit up by himself so I don't see how I can use the bee without the cocoon.

Help! Anyone else experience this? What did u do?

sounds about right, mine grew out of it around this age and she's a small child. You can get the footmuff for this winter,and for some reason the straps seem to loosen up with the footmuff. I'm still using mine at age 2y 9mo, so it's a good buy (more so than the cocoon!).

Forgot to add- does that also mean he should not be flat if he's using a footmuff?

I think you can use a sheepskin with a Bee - we didn't as Mr Oi is veggie and not happy with the idea. I think the baby can be flat using the footmuff, there's a lot of angles on the Bee so maybe one up from flat? It's a while ago, I honestly can't remember with Miss Oi.

Hi, we have an old Bee and never had a cocoon. Why can't you use a Bee without a cocoon? Both of my kids were winter babies and I just used to put them in "all-in-ones" to keep them warm when we went out. You know, those cute furry bearsuits etc.

Did u lie yours flat then in said bear suit or were they a little older?

You could use any footmuff or seat liner...at any seat angle you like!! I didn't really use the cocoon either but did have a car seat size cosy which worked well when my youngest was v little.

I have never used a bugaboo specific footmuff - they look v long on the bee - you could buy any make you liked I think - some come up smaller than others (john lewis fleecy ones?) too...

Hi Ellie, yes they did look kind of "lost" and tiny in the seat, but it was perfectly fine. Yep they were in "bearsuit" from birth so started off flat and then then gradually raised up.

The main reason we didn't buy a cocoon was this exact reason - someone, can't remember who, mentioned that they only last a few months. And I thought the bearsuits were supercute!

I never put the straps round my baby when she was in the cocoon - I strapped the cocoon in, and then put her over top of the straps. I always had the cocoon zipped up, so the risk of her toppling out was slim (and she's a 3rd child, so lucky the cocoon was strapped in if I'm honest ;) ).

We now use a sheepskin, although I have ordered a footmuff for the winter months as well.

We use the sheepskin and the footmuff when cold, super snug! I agree that's footmuff is a good buy and can be used lying flat. Regarding whether he should sit up, the first position mug be suitable. Try it and see how he does, you will be able to tell if he is slumping.

Hiya, I second a footmuff - but if you have the new bee, make sure the holes for the straps are in the right position. Annoyingly they moved them just enough to make using some footmuffs a right old fuss & tricky with a wriggly baby. Am sure they did this to make you buy the very expensive bugaboo one! However, there are lots of footmuff makes that still work, I got one from ebay that covers the whole back seat & can be used as a seat liner alone or footmuff combo and LO was / is very comfy with it.
