Try the maternity range from Asos http://www.asos.com/Women/Maternity/Cat/pgecategory.aspx?cid=5813 ? I bought lots of nice things from there a few years ago. Not frumpy, and prices are decent. Hubbie splashed out and bought me some really nice jeans from Pretty Pregnant on North Cross Road, which I wore for ages postpartum too.

When you're choosing tops, don't forget to think about possibly breastfeeding. I had a couple a very pretty maternity tops that I would still have worn postpartum, but they were impossible to breastfeed in, doh!

In addition to those already mentioned, I also found some nice (and affordable) things in Next, JoJo Maman Bebe, Gap and Mamas & Papas (they do good deals when the sales are on). Also New Look for cheap basics like tracksuit bottoms for around the house, leggings, bump bands, etc.

It's quite expensive, but Oranges and Lemons (is it still called that? Also called Pretty Pregnant?) on North Cross Rd is good for jeans. I "invested" in a pricey pair and lived in them so it was worth it. They also have a website. If you're looking for something for an occasion it's good too, the staff are very very helpful.

My advice would be, especially if you are planning more than one kid, don't skimp on bottoms. Tops are fairly easy to come by and fashions change quite a bit, but if you find a skirt or pair of trousers that fit you, are comfy, and at least slightly adjustable, buy in more than one colour. You'll probably wear them longer after the birth than you think!!! I find I can wear trousers over and over before I'm bored with them but need more changes of tops.

Blooming Marvellous range at Mothercare is quite good.

JoJo have a much better range online than in the shop but their sizes come up large. Try on in store to gauge your size then buy on the website.

Gap maternity.

Topshop.

I got some H&M maternity tops that stopped fitting after I was about 6 months preg so be careful there!

    • Don't see an issue at all. Siunds like the protest is being made by friends and families of the two off licences, Morleys, pret and maxim chicken who are within 100 m of the school. Much ado about nothing. Besides if it doesn't proceed, the kids will walk a but further!!
    • Whilst I agree to some extent,  are they going to have some kind of checkpoint?  I can't see how this could work in practice. Surely Southwark residents go to these places quite frequently as well, particularly Tate Modern?  Will we have to take proof of residency every time we go out? What happens when family are with us who don't live in Southwark? Will other London boroughs start doing the same thing? Will Southwark residents be charged a tourist tax to visit "tourist attractions" in other areas, eg the V&A and the British Museum?
    • A shout out for Mark, owner of Pure Plumbers. 07970 971510 They're well established in the Sevenoaks area, but have recently started doing more work in SE London.  Did some v quick and efficient bathroom and boiler fixes for me; have also seen some of the bathrooms he's built, which have a nice attention to detail. • Totally agree regarding not supporting chains. Gail’s was fine but last time I went in Feb this year, actually walked out Fayetteville looking at menu and waiting 15 minutes to even get glass of water and not busy at all. Staff gone down hill - sooner it goes the better… Always prefer to support non chains - so many lovely places with good food to choose from with pleasant staff who know about customer service and sadly, non English which says a lot for our culture, pubs are also becoming abit of a hit and miss affair but maybe just unlucky. At the end of the day all about the chef. Still abit unclear where new place is located - is it down the road from Goose Green where parade of shops are before Peckham Rye?
