Alex K
A few years back some lovely work was done at the East Dulwich station forecourt, with new paving and lights set into an arc along the walkway. Yesterday evening, returning home after a late dinner, I noted -- the lights are not on!Is this very attractive feature no longer being maintained? Is it the stationmaster's remit, or the council's? Can it be restored or repaired?Hoping, frankly, that it was a one-off, with someone forgetting to flick the appropriate switch on leaving for the day... James Barber
Hi Alex K,East dulwich councillors have allocated ?10,000 from our Cleaner, Green, Safer capital pot to provide great lighting there. Its due to complete during October. The floor lighting you're talknig about was isntalled about 8-10 years ago. It was never handed over to the council lighting people and didnt have a seperate maintenance plan. Floor lights are especially prone to problems having to take weight and harder ot keep dry. Alex K
"Eight to ten years"... good golly! I really AM that old!Whose responsibility, then, is that arc of lights? Time to write a letter. In green ink. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26033-pavement-lighting-east-dulwich-station/#findComment-582662 Share on other sites

Alex K
Can't imagine that the works were carried out without council assent. Are you in a position to enquire, James? If so... well, thanks for shouldering yet another burden, and do you want something ink-on-paper to point at? Calsug
Without trying to sound overly critical but what an epic waste of money that was then - knowing how things work, there was months if not years of planning, it was designed and fitted and then no one bothers to maintain it because it "wasn't handed over" Surely you can get it handed over and maintained instead of just having them lie dormant and useless?James Barber Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> > The floor lighting you're talknig about was> isntalled about 8-10 years ago.
