A few years back some lovely work was done at the East Dulwich station forecourt, with new paving and lights set into an arc along the walkway. Yesterday evening, returning home after a late dinner, I noted -- the lights are not on!

Is this very attractive feature no longer being maintained? Is it the stationmaster's remit, or the council's? Can it be restored or repaired?

Hoping, frankly, that it was a one-off, with someone forgetting to flick the appropriate switch on leaving for the day...

Hi Alex K,

East dulwich councillors have allocated ?10,000 from our Cleaner, Green, Safer capital pot to provide great lighting there. Its due to complete during October.

The floor lighting you're talknig about was isntalled about 8-10 years ago. It was never handed over to the council lighting people and didnt have a seperate maintenance plan. Floor lights are especially prone to problems having to take weight and harder ot keep dry.

Without trying to sound overly critical but what an epic waste of money that was then - knowing how things work, there was months if not years of planning, it was designed and fitted and then no one bothers to maintain it because it "wasn't handed over" Surely you can get it handed over and maintained instead of just having them lie dormant and useless?

    • What is it that makes Waitrose so special! Admittedly I have shopped a couple of times in the Orpington and Beckenham one - sometimes buying food which I cannot get else where. Their 'basic range' is not bad. Price for price and quality - M & S.
    • Sometimes a shed or other installation has to have written approval from the freeholder i.e. Southwark, Southwark has (or did have) a Leaseholder Association.   Could also come under Anti Social Behaviour Unit.
    • Love Dulwich is great but has a large step in front. We have only been weekdays at Lunch time. Maria's next to Picture House is disabled friendly. Also can reserve table in advance. We did a Sunday lunch catch up with family - there were 8 of us.
    • Hi, Thinking about  going with some friends and was just wondering if folk might like to report back please. Most importantly sound level when busy & is it disabled friendly.  Thinking on a Sunday lunchtime but don’t want a busy busy environment or loud chatter - a couple of friends could not cope. Time can be flexible, if that helps - say 2 ish to avoid above.. Thanks…
