Hello. Just looking for some advice. We're thinking of having a combined naming ceremony/first birthday for our daughter in the spring (lots of time to plan - just trying to be organised for once!)

Has anyone done this? If so, did you do a humanist ceremony or use the services at a local town hall? And where did you hold it, if it was a humanist ceremony? We're looking for a venue around E Dulwich/Denmark Hill/Herne Hill for around 30 people. We'll consider somewhere catered or a place with facilities for us to cater it ourselves.

And finally, how did it go down with your friends and family? Having read the info on the humanist website, it seems perfect for us. But it will be a first for both our families - most tend to get christened or do nothing - and I am wondering what they will think of it all!

Thanks in advance.

    • Called Tessa Jowell GP Surgery today after failing to get two repeat prescriptions from the pharmacy.  When I asked the pharmacy, I was told that they had been requested but not sent by the surgery.  After speaking to the surgery I was told that those two items were no longer on my repeat prescriptions.  I was told I would need a prescription review. Earliest date would be the 22 September.  That is utterly ridiculous.  Surely someone from the surgery should have contacted me to tell me this after requesting the repeat prescriptions two weeks ago.    Also, apparently, there is no point sending an email regarding prescriptions as they are not actioned nor replied to as I have discovered.
    • Erm... guessing it's like any service... so you can receive/be part of something relevant to you in the area where you happen to reside. You don't have to sign up but you might miss out on an excellent Tesco offer or two. 🤷‍♀️

    • happy to buy, but would rather not buy a new one as only need it for a very short time (Hallowe'en). Please let me know if you have one in your cupboard that you don't use.
