KidKruger
Any tips on how long it takes from advising Vodafone that you want to enable the new phone to them actually do it ??Do they disable the old phone/enable the new phone concurrently or is there a 'gap' ? If so how long has this been for you ? KidKruger
It's a jump from a 2.5 yr old iphone 3 to a 5.The sim is in new phone, you have to call Vodafone to do the switch. KalamityKel
technology has moved on quite considerably where the down time for a fone switch over thingamy should only b a couple of hours altho they do still say it could take up to 24hrs. i have noticed it does also depend where you are when u call them up to do the switch... where the masts r (no doubt there r some thatll disagree to this but its my own experience). u shouldnt b down for too long Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26087-iphone-upgrade-vodafone-switchover-time-from-old-to-new-phone/#findComment-583377 Share on other sites
Townleygreen
I did this switch last week, it took less than an hour to go from the old sim to the new one. They said allow 24 hours though! KidKruger
Townley - does that mean the during the hour it took to do the switch you had no signal ? KalamityKel
You'll have no service at all during that time. They'll also advise you to back up your contacts Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26087-iphone-upgrade-vodafone-switchover-time-from-old-to-new-phone/#findComment-583475 Share on other sites
KidKruger
OK cheers KK, I have got the new phone all set-up from iTunes, just need a darned signal now that the previous phone has been disabled by Vodafone - they didn't say that there would be any downtime (or I was too naive to realise) and it's come at an awkward time. KidKruger
One thing worth pointing out with the 'Five' is that when making calls you cannot hear the person you're talking to, it's really REALLY quiet and tinny, like someone calling from Mars via a tin can and string type of set-up.However I found a solution all by myself. If you peel-off the protective sheet of plastic from the front of the phone, amazingly you can hear just as good as on any other mobile phone !
