Gidget
Anyone experimented and can recommend? It should end up like pulled pork.Vinegar sauce, bbq sauce or sauerkraut is what I am deciding between now. KidKruger
There are some great recipes for (vinegar) pulled pork in North Carolina - there seems to be a 'war' between East and West of the State over who makes the best. One side does vinegar-based, the other side does something different, I can't remember which does which, but all tasted good to me ! You may wanna try WWW. jacks09
I love doing a dry rub, loads of cumin and brown sugar, cayenne chilli and garlic salt and then roast it for as long as you can. Shred it and then toss in BBQ sauce Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26117-slow-cooker-pork-shoulder-recipes/#findComment-583782 Share on other sites
Gidget
Yes, have heard about the pulled war in North Carolina. Am veering towards a rub with sage, thyme, paprika, salt and pepper and cooked with caraway, sauerkraut, potatoes. apples and onions. Not traditional, but the reviews are ecstatic. Ruffler
This is very good - the end result is similar to pulled pork. http://programmes.stv.tv/food-recipes/daily-cooks-challenge/111513-daily-cooks-challenge-slow-braised-honey-cider-pork-shoulder/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26117-slow-cooker-pork-shoulder-recipes/#findComment-583817 Share on other sites
Gidget
Maybe we should have a pork shoulder cook-off? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26117-slow-cooker-pork-shoulder-recipes/#findComment-583821 Share on other sites

Then I chucked a bunch of mixed asian ingredients (soy, mirin or a bit of brown sugar, fish sauce, chilli, garlic, star anise, sesame oil, spring onions) and it turned out amazingly well. Gidget
Bit afraid to just chuck stuff in at the moment. What you did sounds like a chinese barbeque version! Am a bit addicted to vinegary things at the moment. Am cooking cabbage, leeks and onions (sometimes with bacon if I have it) and adding apple cider vinegar to it. Really nice. Can add caraway seeds.
