Discovered today that a neighbour has cut some large branches from a tree in our garden and shoved them behind a shrub in the garden damaging the shrub.

I have no issues with the branches being cut as they block light, and understand that the branches remain our property, but was wondering if we should have been advised that they were about to do it? The branches will need a lot of breaking/chopping before they can be put in the recycling bin.

The neighbour is someone I see almost every day, and have a good relationship with, so while being disappointed by their actions want to bring it up in full possession of the facts. Is it just a matter of politeness, or should they legally have given us some notice?

Just keep your foliage in order, anyone can cut overhanging branches etc if over their property.

My neighbour did it recently, no words exchanged about it - just the usual banter. He just dropped the cut branches over 6ft garden fence at nearest spot, if it lands on my flowers etc I'd regard it as tough.

If he's going to the trouble of addressing my responsibilities I can't expect him to remove the foliage or set himself up for any comeback from me if don't like where he drops it.

No need for legal considerations just keep your bush trimmed !

I love you lady don't give a fuck with the woman you saw

Cheers Kid, wasn't dodging responsibility - would have been more than happy to deal with it had they mentioned it was bothering them. Will let them know that that can be the case in future - win/win for both of us then, no damage to anything and no one getting annoyed.

    • Highly recommend Greg from Raven Plumbing & Heating, who I found through this forum. He was immediately responsive, great communication and super speedy arrival time, even on a bank holiday! He diagnosed and fixed a leak in record time. Extremely friendly and professional, made me feel much better about a stressful situation - will definitely work with him again!
    • I think the thread title is a bit overdramatic there’s thousands of CICs in the UK.  Hopefully, I don’t sound naive when I say that sometimes this sort of set up is a way to reach hard to reach people without the bureaucracy of more formal organisations.

    • We have a place and a date for the first (and hopefully not the last) reborn ED Forum drinks! We have booked tables at The Palmerston on Wednesday 11 June at 7pm, in the area by the window on the left as you come in. It would be very helpful to us (and particularly the pub) if you could PM us in good time if you intend to come, so that we are not reserving tables which won't be used. We will provide labels and pens  for those who would like to use them - definitely not compulsory! Any comments or queries, please post them here or PM me!
