Hi we stayed in Cala Llonga last year. Very family oriented, lots of toddlers and young kids. There are a few hotels right on the beach, and no shortage of nice places to eat. It's an easy island to drive around so we had lots of day trips to other towns/beaches.

We had Tony - 07846 314543 - round on Friday to clean our hall and stairs carpet as they were dust filled following some minor building work. He did a brilliant job, even managing to remove a dark stain that had been bothering me for months. The carpets looked so good afterwards that even the kids commented on how clean they were! Highly recommended.

We used Yan to finish the job for us. He did a good job for a good price.

I think security has stepped up in the past year. I don't use my married name but wasn't ever stopped when travelling with the children until this year. Luckily my husband was just in front of us in the queue but I'll now make sure that I have our marriage certificate or their birth certificates with me.

Hi we were towards the end of a mini kitchen refurb but the person we were using is unable to finish the job. The work to date was of a good standard but we are left with half a splashback to tile and some pipes to be boxed in. Removing the old tiles damaged the wall and it has been partially repaired with bonding material but may need to be 'made good' before tiling. There are some great recommendations for tilers/builders on here, but as it's a relatively small job I'm not sure who would want to take it on. Thanks!

We had the set vegetarian meal for two from there the other night. Nice flavours and generous portions - there was enough for lunch next day too. I thought the onion bhajis were particularly good.

Discovered today that a neighbour has cut some large branches from a tree in our garden and shoved them behind a shrub in the garden damaging the shrub. I have no issues with the branches being cut as they block light, and understand that the branches remain our property, but was wondering if we should have been advised that they were about to do it? The branches will need a lot of breaking/chopping before they can be put in the recycling bin. The neighbour is someone I see almost every day, and have a good relationship with, so while being disappointed by their actions want to bring it up in full possession of the facts. Is it just a matter of politeness, or should they legally have given us some notice?

Where I'm from in Ireland(South East) it's Santa Clause, but usually shortened to 'Santy'. My kids tend to look blankly at their Irish cousins when asked what they're getting from Santy. Whether we leave a nice glass of whiskey or some milk and biscuits tends to be dictated by how many work drinks we think Santy has been to in the run up to Christmas...

My husband, when he was in his early thirties, received a letter from a sister he didn't know he had. His mother had fallen pregnant in Ireland in the early 60s and been placed in a convent to have her baby. Luckily because she was a bit older, and a strong character, she refused to leave until she knew where the nuns were placing the baby, who was adopted by a very distant cousin. My husband said he always felt his mother, who died when he was in his late teens, was sad about something throughout his childhood and felt an great sense of relief when he realised why. He went to Ireland and met with his sister and although, for various reasons, they are no longer in contact it was a very positive thing for both him and her. Good luck with your search.

Bit of a long shot but, my husbands keys were stolen at about 11pm on Wed 19 August. He'd left them in the boot of the car while running up to the house with something (yes, I know) and as his wallet was attached to the keys he thinks it was just an opportunist who was on the street in the minute it took him to get in and out of the house. There was some money in the wallet, so the likely thing is that the person took that and then dumped the keys somewhere. We have reported it to the police and have been checking to see if any were handed in, but no luck so far. We've had the house locks changed, but that still leaves the car keys and his scooter keys. If anyone does happen to find a large bunch of keys chucked over their wall i'd appreciate it if you could pm me. I'll be checking my mail infrequently as I'm away from my ofice at the moment. Really enjoyed it - keeps you confused enough to keep watching :). Second series wasn't quite as gripping, but answered a few questions left over from series one.

Read an article a while ago by someone who was doing a one month trial. The bit that put me off was when she woke in the middle of the night lying in a puddle of 'an olive oil like substance', and for the rest of the month couldn't go out without a jumper around her waist or a long top as a the 'olive oil substance' continued to leak at inopportune moments. Think I'd rather be a bit fat!

I went at at half-term with a 10yr old and 6yr old and also stayed in an apartment (www.myapartmentparis.com)and would recommend it as a stress free way to travel with kids! We felt very independent and think it added to the experience. Before going we also bought a book on Things to do in Paris with Children (Fodor Guides) from Amazon and it was really useful - if I can remember correctly it mentions things like access with a buggy which you would obviously need! I would second the recommendations for the Parc du Luxembourg and Les Tuileries, easy ways to spend an afternoon. Eurodisney is a great spectacle - the parade especially seems to blow kids away! Have a great time.
