No water on Ulverscroft Road this morning.

There has been a leak for some time now with water coming trough the road surface.

Water now turned off but no one working on site.

Just had a Text from Thames Water to put some water aside.

Ok if you have any ?

I?ve had no water since first thing this morning. There?s a new leak at the north cross rd end of the rd. Thames water has turned up but I over heard them say to someone they hadn?t turned the water off yet which confused me as I don?t have water. I lost the piece of paper with the road WhatsApp group before adding it on my phone so any updated info would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Every resident of Ulverscroft Road was contacted with details of the road WhatsApp group when lockdown started, but if you have lost the details or have changed your mind about joining, I believe you can search for Ulverscroft Road on WhatsApp and ask to be added.

Or of course if you have just moved to the road (welcome!)

I can't remember how joining the group works now .... but it has been very useful, particularly today!

Back on the water issue..

Large amounts of Water was coming up through the road surface on Ulverscroft Rd.

Work was carried out at the end on Ulverscroft Rd. on North Cross Rd.

The water was turned off and the water coming through the road surface stopped and the road dried up in the sun.

At 15.15 (01/09/20) the water was turned back on.

Water again is now coming up through the road surface on Ulverscroft Rd.

The real fault has NOT been resolved.

Then obviously you can't make phone calls when you are out and about, and can't use WhatsApp :)

And sadly you can't see the photos posted of the repairs made by Thames Water yesterday :)

    • thanks Jenijenjen and all - yes, i remember walking or taking the bus from the elephant (where i was working) to Camberwell to get there.  I think Tim - who's still at Franklin's -  was there in those days, and the woman who ran the cafe!  Other food places that i remember fondly are the ones in Neal's Yard (with the Hunkin sculpture that you could put a coin in ) and the basement lunch place at the Tottenham Court Road junction with Hanway Street...
    • Did you try the emergency number posted above? It mentions lift breakdowns over the festive period outside the advertised  times. Hope you got it sorted x
    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
