thanks for the great pictures computedshorty, your postings are always a pleasure. i live in the flats that occupy the space where the ED odeon once stood. i think the abundance of cinemas in days gone long by can be explained by the fact that it wasn't just films that were on show but also news of the day. there are also some really interesting old pictures of ED on north cross road, you can stand in the position where one of them was taken, quite an eerie feeling! when did the ED odeon shut though? wonder what the last film shown was?? cheers again.

I live just around the corner & walk past every day, & I'm still not entirely sure what it's meant to be. For that reason, I'm not surprised if it often gets overlooked by passersby. Prior to all of this, it was Oriental Star - a wonderful Chinese takeout run by lovely people, & we were genuinely sad to see it go. It took a long time to find anything in this area that came close, & honestly, I still don't think we quite have.
