Have you visited a sewerage works, the circular filter tanks have around the sides growing tomato plants that have been eaten and past trough the sewer to these tanks, the red prize tomato's growing there are ( so I am told ) of a very nice flavor by the workers there, I will take their word for that.

I would think that anything grown from seed would be alright to eat, but not growing in that situation.

The manure may contain a lot of weed seeds which are not broken down by the horses' digestive system. It may also contain aminopyralid, a broadleaf herbicide which is used on pasture and may be in the hay given to the horses and remain in the manure. This might then cause problems if the manure is used for certain plants and vegetables.

    • Ah, thanks,  it all comes flooding back. I've actually been to the Hastings shop, I'd forgotten all about it, along with her name! Didn't she (in between?)  take over what  was then The Magnolia, previously The Magdala, now The Lordship, with her then partner? Or is that some figment of my imagination?  In fact, didn't they transform it from The Magdala (much missed) to The Magnolia? With flowery wallpaper covering the front of the bar? Which reminds me of the pub's brief period after The Magnolia  as the ill-conceived and ill-fated The Patch.

    • A belated recommendation for Iain and Paul od Oddbods who came to help me with various jobs before Christmas.  Painting ceiling, renewing silicone around bath, repairing a window sill which was almost beyond repair and hanging a large mirror.   Very happy with their work and they are friendly and very reliable and excellent at communicating.  No hesitation in recommending them.
