loft insulation - I need advice

We want to insulate a small attic space so the baby's room below warms up a bit. I have a vague recollection that you might be able to get a small grant to help with that kind of thing? Is that right or am I imagining it? I remember someone coming to our door with a clipboard a few months back - something to do with the local authority and loft insulation.

Does anyone know?

Also, can anyone recommend someone to do it? Is it something any builder worth their salt can do or do you need a specialist company?

Thanks all

Hi,

There is a grant available where you could get your entire loft done for free. I think its still available..

Check the link below. you might have to cut and paste it.

Hi Natascha,

Yes they came and surveyed early December but then never got in touch again. When I called them recently they told me the offer for free insulation had ended at the end of December & that they had run out of slots for the month, hence they never contacted me.

I wasn't very impressed with them in terms of customer service on the phone or in person, unfortunately!

I'm currently looking into other options, such as B&Q who can come & do a free survey, though I suspect the insulation & install will be paid for (unless we decide to do it ourselves).

Hope that's useful. Any further Qs, don't hesitate.

    • It was a reactionary post and inappropriate when talking about a real case and a real person who was harmed.  London streets are generally pretty safe.  Sadly violent crime happens from time to time, as it always has.
    • Do tell, CPR Dave, what the spiteful jealous stuff is - I'm intrigued.  Agree - Burnham is a top class communicator (polar opposite of Starmer) he'd do a great job of uniting the party. I still think Wes Streeting has the edge, though I'm sure he has more enemies as well.
    • This is a huge part of the problem.   Starmer is only interested in himself, not in what is best for our country.    There's a litany of stuff he's done for spiteful jealous personal reasons which has damaged the nation enormously. Burnham would be a much better leader than of the other dross left behind when Starmer goes. To inflict a worse leader (and PM) upon us for his own selfish reasons would add to the problems and be entirely in keeping with his woeful premiership so far.
    • I heard today there was a burglary in Lacon Road yesterday evening between 20.00 - 22.00,  apparently the owners were home at the time & thieves got away with electrical items along with the owners car!  Wtf!   Anyone heard anything else?
