I'm not saying the topic isn't worthy of discussion, and I'm not saying that animals aren't important. But every time somebody wants to sell or rehome a bloody cat, we seem to have a debate about it. But as if that wasn't enough, we're now re-posting other people's cat adverts from other websites so we can discuss those too.

Post about whatever you want, but don't be surprised if someone points out when you're covering the same old ground.

Thanks Jeremy - you've highlighted what I was struggling to understand about woodrot's point (and Otta has now added to that too so I think I 'get' it now, I hope so anyway).

I know that some people think we should be seeing the bigger picture, and yes, there are numerous threads that get hi-jacked on here about animals for sale. But the EDF isn't representative, its a microcosm of views and everyone is entitled to be for/against something, of course they can voice their opinions whether the 'consensus' is in agreement or not on this discussion board - be it about animals for sale, 'posh' supermarkets, christmas happening earlier each year, cupcakes ad nauseum.

Yep, it gets terribly booooooring for regulars/frequent visitors to the EDF to see the same old, same old cropping up again. But have some perspective yourself.*

and yes SOME pet owners should be more bloody well responsible, as should SOME parents be better at bringing up their children and teaching them life lessons.

and yes, I am leaving EVERYTHING to the Home for Cats with Hurty Paws :) My choice.

PS previous dealings with ALF poltroons is not the same, the Minkey's post was not a hateful diatribe.

I haven't actually noticed all the previous cat threads, probably because I am not the least bit interested. This one got my attention because it's in the lounge, and it was the getting rid of the cat because little girl is demanding a dog that made me click on it.

For goodness sake, we've got a whole thread full of lost cats. Cats seem to be important to ED. As important as buggies and entitled parents.

No one in ED - as far as we know - was molested by Jimmy Savile, yet we discuss Mr Savile's activities on the Forum (and some of us even came to his defence in the Drawing Room.)

Of course we can discuss cruelty to cats (or any other beast) on the Forum, whether it happens in ED or as far away as Putney.
