Copleston Centre Sessional Support Role


We are looking for someone to support our exciting programme of activities with older people and people with mental health concerns. Our programme includes:


? Activity sessions promoting individual and community health and well-being

? Real Meals - bringing older people together for sociable but physically distanced lunches at the centre and organising home deliveries for those unable to leave home for any reason.


The support role will include:

? Taking weekly meal and activity bookings

? Coordinating collections and deliveries of meals

? Working with programme volunteers

? Liaising with partner organisations and local food providers/cafes


You will need the following skills and qualities:

? Experience of working with older people and people with mental health concerns

? Experience of working with people from diverse backgrounds

? Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel

? Ability to keep monitoring and financial records

? Experience of working as part of a team

? Good communication across a range of media

? A friendly attitude


We are looking for someone who is available to work at the centre, subject to a Covid-safe workplace risk assessment, for 1.5 days a week on Wednesdays and Fridays until the end of March. The hourly rate is ?13.50. For this role, you will be responsible for your own tax and National Insurance payments.

    • But all those examples sell a wide variety of things,  and mostly they are well spread out along Lordship Lane. These two shops both sell one very specific thing, albeit in different flavours, and are just across the road from each other. I don't think you can compare the distribution of shops in Roman times to the distribution of shops in Lordship Lane in the twenty first century. Well, you can, but it doesn't feel very appropriate. Haa anybody asked the first shop how they feel? Are they happy about the "healthy competition" ?

    • Ha! After I posted this, I thought of lots more examples. Screwfix and the hardware store? Mrs Robinson and Jumping Bean? Chemists, plant shops, hairdressers...  the list goes on... it's good to have healthy competition  Ooooh! Two cheese shops
    • You've got a point.  Thinking Leyland and Screwfix too but this felt different.
