Hi,

I recently organised an afternoon tea at my home for my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary after receiving a recommendation from a friend...I just have to pass on this recommendation. Baked by Belle offers a traditional afternoon tea experience, using vintage Art Deco china, all in the comfort of your own home. She sets everything up, even boils the kettle, & then, after you've finished (& there was not specific time, we just called her) she pops back & takes all the dirty dishes away....genius idea.

The variety of teas was fantastic, I think I drank a litre in total...the sandwiches were tasty & light and the best scones & cakes I've had in a long long time. The scones were light & perfectly textured, the swiss roll was nothing short of amazing & her macaroons divine. All in all the best afternoon tea I've ever had.

This very talented lady has just started up in business & more than deserves a recommendation on the Forum.

Another recommendation for the Afternoon Tea by Baked by Belle.

I booked it as a treat for my wife and it earned me several brownie points. And I got to pretend I was Lord of the Manor for an hour or two (I found it impossible not to hold the tea cup betwix my thumb and index finger with my little finger akimbo).

Scones were the best I've had. And Belle made some dairy-free sandwiches for my toddler son, and even fashioned a wee edible elephant for him.

Really good.

    • Thanks penguin  always wondered about that place and that’s way more info than I ever thought I would get  (used to live above a gun nut on friern road - he would tell me nothing)
    • There was a Saturday afternoon crowd of enthusiasts, and at other times the owner might have been off acquiring stock. He also repaired air guns, which he also sold. He stocked edged weapons, uniforms, including antique uniforms, air guns and ammo and starting pistols and shot. Some medals and other militaria. Quite a lot of ex service chit chat on a Saturday. I had an amateur interest, didn't deal a lot, in English pattern swords and other mainly 19th century militaria. And made some good purchases there. I'm afraid WWII and later events was the major focus of most of the regulars.
    • Did anyone actually venture in to that place? I recall it always being closed/very uninviting!
