Hi there

We're thinking of ducks or DPL early years. Both are great schools and we're aware of the 7+ exam at Ducks to Dulwich College junior school and the 11+ / 13+ at DPL to go onto to other settings.

We're out of area so curious if people have children at either of these schools and what the pros / cons are. We're both working parents.

Thanks

Our kids are at Ducks. It?s a lovely school. Good teacher engagement, nice outdoor space. Can?t comment on DPL but Ducks is pretty much Montessori in all but name, all learning through play, not very pressured. They get a bit of homework but no one checks if they?ve done it. That works for some, wouldn?t for others.

Only negative i can think of is a lot of girls leave as they can?t stay past 7, so by year 3 it?s mostly boys.

Happy if you want to DM with any questions.

Ours are at Ducks and it's an absolutely lovely place. Incredibly nurturing. The staff are so loving and committed. It's also in the nicest surroundings you could imagine for a London school. I couldn't fault it. DPL also has a fantastic reputation , so probably it's a choice between 2 great things.

Hi

Sorry to jump on a thread from last year. We are moving to dulwich shortly so I was wondering how you got on with your choice OP? And whether you got a space? I have got myself worried that due to us moving into the area we are to late to get a space for our kiddo who is turning 3 next academic year

- we?d need a nursery space from Sept.

To the lovely people responding to OP, when did you have to register your children by to get a space at DUCKS please?

Thanks

I sincerely hope similar is available still because for many elderly their pet is their main source of comfort and company.
    • In a couple of places locally, I have come across this. I am fairly sure that they attempt to do the bill in their head. If you just say , “no, I think it’s x” they start again and get to an agreeable number, or find a calculator. I don’t think it’s a malicious attempt to swindle people. Just not great arithmetic.
    • There are excellent charities like the Greenwich Wildlife Network who will help if you report any concerns with local wildlife. Foxes are wonderful creatures who had been forced into our town and cities and are just doing their best to survive, we should take care of them when we can.
    • Like I thought… prob like that for most of the day.. especially after people had walked their dogs, with friends, relatives  kids…
