School street for Goodrich

There?s to be a week day daily closure on Dunstan?s from the junction with Mt Adon Park. The flyer on the post described it in a very council-type way so I can?t work out which way and for how long down the road it will extend.

Interesting. Still can't see anything on the Southwark site other than the point closure promulgated back in August - but as we know it's not the easiest to navigate. Maybe take a pic of the notice,and we can try and find the underlying order?

It?s a School Street closure, Monday to Friday during term times, from 3pm - 3.45pm. Closure on Dunstan?s from the school up to Mt Adon.

Description of closure:

Goodrich Community Primary School, the part of DUNSTANS ROAD between its junctions with Goodrich Road and Mount Adon Park/Upland Road during term time (Monday to Friday 3:00 pm ? 3:45 pm) which will be physically enforced with traffic signs and the installation of temporary barriers located (i) at a point 1 metre south-west of the south-western kerb-line of Goodrich Road and (ii) at a point 7 metres north-east of the north-eastern kerb-line of Mount Adon Park;

Any idea why it is only the afternoon when the other schools streets are morning as well?

Maybe because the school hasn?t got the staff or has but doesn?t see why it ought to help. Remember that the school objected to the shutting off of Dunstan?s and Goodrich, even though it?s only in use for a portion of the hours in a year.

Good point - yes I remember that the school objected. I am sure this is the only school street to only operate for one part of the day so it will be interesting to see if the background to that comes out.

The morning drop off has been staggered and the kids are allowed to head straight to their class rooms so the mornings are much less busy which may be why they've gone for afternoon only. In the afternoon despite a staggered pick up it really is very busy and with people trying to socially distance it was becoming dangerous as cars/vans sped down that bit of the road.

Still coukd do with fewer parents driving their kids to school, full stop. Pretend it?s the seventies or eighties before people got so ?busy?.

So, that's just more traffic pushed onto Upland Road? How very Southwark. I walk my kids to and from school and they go through the gates on Upland Road. Genius.

I'm not defending parents who need or choose to drive their kids to school (one classmate is driven from Dawsons Heights every morning and afternoon!) but this is just nonsense and will directly affect the children using Upland Road.

Is there no one in Southwark's traffic planning division that knows what the f**k they're doing??
