Please be careful when walking down Oxonian Street and ideally avoid the road. There?s an open sewer spewing human poo & everything else across the pavement and road.

I reported it to Southwark Council yesterday morning and was assured it would be dealt with quickly but there?s been no clean up, no signs or barriers put up & people are walking through it, tramping it around East Dulwich.

This is coming from a private tenanted property on East Dulwich Grove and, despite being warned yesterday, it looks like the residents are continuing to use the toilet facilities so it is an ongoing and frankly revolting incident.

Please avoid this street and add your voice to the complaints to Southwark Council to sort this quickly.

Hmmmm interesting.

Looks like at least two things going on here (if plumbing norms have been adhered to).

1. An outlet for (presumably) sink/bath, which has a section missing, so is issuing water to the ground surface outside.

2. A build-up of possibly toilet waste, but unclear where from - possibly a backed-up drain.

Ideally the lower gauge outlet in (1) is not the source of the bad stuff because it looks too narrow for toilet waste.

If it has been the source perhaps why that section was removed, to resolve a blockage.

Whatever the circumstances, dangerous and gross !

Yeah, with the term ?solved? clearly being used generously !

I think what?s actually possible to back-up where depends on the pipe layout and gravity, possible though.

I hope the landlord or his agents are studying the issue (see what I did there) as closely as we are !

    • I have never used AI in my life. It's just notes from my forthcoming monograph on light industry in Dulwich and Camberwell 1879-1946 (dates chosen for obvious reasons).
    • Thank you, this really made me chuckle. It's like you met my brother as he would be the one taking more than his share. Plus the 'pikey' chutney is a winner. Unusual as in can't be identified??? Sadly I'm not the host otherwise I would definitely do that I regularly shop in the Cheese Block and am a fan. But as people have pointed out, there is no cheese shop that charges less based on bulk, so Aldi unusual cheeses may be what the familam receive! Yay, so I can get discounted mouse nibbled cheese still! Oooo, now I do love a Stinking Bishop. It actually offends my stepmum by it's stinkiness but luckily she is not one of the attendees at this particular gathering.  This is blooming genius. It's actually my partner who has the biggest issue with buying in plastic so I will have to hide the wrappers from him!
