I thought so. Truthfully, almost all the schools here academically outperform national standards for their intake and cater for students of all academic ability. The qualitative stuff is so subjective. One person's friendly environment is another persons suffocating ethos. As its so personal, when it comes to that side of things there is nothing that can replace going to visit the school and see if it feels like the right fit. The good news is, no school has a broad reputation for lacking the things you are looking for so you should be okay.

Good luck!

However if you are looking for in year admission to KS2 you will probably have your pick of schools.

Most will have open days as the application deadline for reception places is looming.

Goose Green Primary School has a school tour on Tuesday 8th January at 9.15 which takes in the whole school including, of course, KS2 and the music and art facilities. There will be parents of current pupils on hand to chat over hot drinks and biscuits after the tour and this is likely to include at least one or two with children in whichever year you are looking for.

Good luck. We have lots of good schools and it's a great area to live in, you'll love it.

Thanks for the replies. We are in the process of moving to an address near Goose Green from abroad so it's an in-year admission. I won't have time to visit schools before Christmas but at least wanted to get general impressions of local schools to have something to put on the admission form and to narrow my search in the new year. Judging from the replies, it seems that all the local schools are good so I have nothing to worry about.

    • Well thanks for enriching the conversation.  Would you chuck Fah - rage in too for his tax avoidance on his property?   I expect it was lead story on Jeremy Vine too.  Doesn't make it a story, just a bit more of BBC tabloid style sensationalism.  There are numerous real news stories in the UK and across the world.  And now, apt for Halloween, you have summoned up the ghost of Louisa. So for the third time, will you now eat humble pie?
