Hello,

The past few days my 14 month old has ended each day with slightly gummy eyes. they don't seem to be bothering her, not rubbing them except when tired and they're not watery.

This morning when she woke up they were much worse, so bad in fact they both eyes were gummed shut and it took me and my husband about 10 minutes to clear then using cotton wool and water so she could finally open them again, poor thing. She seems very happy in herself and went off to nursery clear but I'm concerned that it might some kind of infection and this close to christmas whether she should be seen by a GP or whtehr I should try over the counter drops first?

I don't think its conjunctivitus as there is no redness or watering and I'm sligfhtly wary of a trip to my GP's walk in clinic when noro is rife...

Hi my daughter has been the same.

I took her to the docs today althought it was much better today but wanted to get checked before Xmas. He said there are two types of conjunctivitis bacterial which would be red and viral which might not.

He said she may have had the viral kind ( but typically her eyes were fine when we went!) and prescribed some drops which I will only use if it gets worse again. They are chloramphenicol eye drops which he says you can buy over the counter.

Hope this helps!

    • There seems to be a change in the reception staff - did not recognise a couple of them when I last visited.  Not sure whether one of the long term staff has retired as not seen her for a while.  Used on line facility as my podiatrist recommended antibiotics for a toe infection and also took photo of my toe which I attached yo my request. Got a message back within a day to say medication ordered from chemist.

    • Oh give it a break.  We have an MP who makes racist comments, yet our media (and what seems like this Forum) that generally hate Labour (and loved Johnson) are just out looking for the dirt. It's a move on, nothing to see here.  Particularly if she used a letting agency.
