Slimming World on Referral

I put this in the general ED area but losing weight can reduce risk of some of the medical conditions that can cause Covid symptoms to be worse so I thought I'd put it here too so as many people as possible who might find it useful are aware.

Southwark is running a pilot with Slimming World with a FREE 12 week referral for those eligible who want to lose weight.

If you know someone who wants to lose weight referral is via the Southwark Healthy Lifestyle Hub on 0333 005 0159.

The offer?s not open to current members. I can say from personal experience that the West Norwood group is a friendly group with a great Consultant and support from other members. Its not a diet, Slimming World introduce you to a healthy lifestyle and there are members in the group who fit it into their family life / while travelling for work / working shifts.

12 week?s free would cover the run up to Easter if that?s likely to be a challenging time. There was definitely sharing last Easter on ways to cope with the challenges the time of year throws up. If you know someone who might be interested do pass the details on. Ok weight losses might not be what they were pre-Covid but people are losing weight and there have been those that have reached their target weight during lockdown.

It's Lent isn't it.

It must have just got through to me born 1965 as I always feel compelled to make a token effort with something at least for Lent.

Cadburys cream eggs and Hot Cross Buns do tempt though but I guess they're all year round now. Never eaten an Easter egg proper before Easter Sunday.

    • I liked the bit In your article that said.  “The statistics provide insights into speeds at which drivers choose to travel when free to do so,” says the DfT, adding that they are “not representative of the level of speeding across the whole road network, which we would expect to be lower.” And  "RAC Report on Motoring 2022 asked users to select up to three reasons why they exceed the speed limit for each road class. On roads with 20mph limits, the top reason for exceeding the speed limit was “speed limit being inappropriate for the road,” which was cited by 47% of 20mph road users" 🤔 As @alice clearly pointed out, this is about cyclists not motorists. Your refusal to answer the question is showing that you clearly don't think cyclists should obey the rules, fair play on you, in that case why  should motorists ?  My simple answer, as I stated before is that everyone should obey the rules, as to how that's enforced is not my area of expertise  Maybe it's yours @Hen123 in which case you tell us how you would make sure everyone obeys the rules to make everyone safe, including cyclists and drivers!
    • Are you saying more should be done about 90% of motorists who break them?
    • Ahhhh, @malumbu yet again you try and twist the truth. you muat be despetate 🤣 The consultation is about local authorities not keeping excess profits from fines, it is NOT about taking control of local roads away from them. 4/10 must try harder
    • @Hen123 you still aren't saying if you support everyone obeying the rules. Why is that ?
