Hi - I play for a wandering cricket side many of whose members live in E Dulwich/S London. I was keen to arrange a local fixture for 2013 against some like-minded inviduals - either a w/end 35/40 over match or a twenty over mid-week slog. We don't take it too seriously and are what may (charitably) be termed of "mixed" ability. As a wandering side, we do not have our own ground but happy to share the cost of pitch hire. You can find out more about us here:

www.tbttoads.co.uk - Let me know if you have a side which would be keen for a fixture.

A Crystal Palace Tavern (RIP) touring XI made up of various forum members once formed for a one-off match against a team of journos from the South London Press.

The standard was....agricultural. One forum member, legally registered blind, managed to take three wickets in a spell of spin bowling unseen since Murali stepped down.

I'm trying to see if I can find details somewhere online or in the archive....

Not sure we could muster a team again?

I still have his pads from last time so he might turn up just to get those back!

I have a colleague who lives on Green Dale who is decent and might be up for a trundle. His 11 year old son has had trials for Surrey so might provide a "if they're good enough they're old enough" youthful vibe to the team.

Floating Onion for wicket keeper again?

I think Belair Park have a ground for public hire. From their website:

Cricket pitch:

The pitch can be booked by calling the booking office on 020 7525 1050. A short session (1/2 day) is ?27.00. A long session (1 day) is ?52.00.

Not sure if this includes stuff like boundary ropes/flags and stumps/bails.

Well, El Pibe is captain of the CPTCC so I'll defer to him but happy to help try and pull this together.

Belair is grass but not great quality.

Colleague who plays for Streatham and Marlborough CC (based nr the Grove Tavern on Lordship Lane) says their pitch is for hire for about ?250 but that includes use of a pavillion and possibly (and dangerously) a bar.

So far we have:

El Pibe (Spanish)

Tom (Irish)

Help Me Boab (Scot)

David C (English)

TBC

Otta (Blind)

Dems (Northern)

Onion (Bahamian)

Brendan (Saffa)

Fear'n'Boozin (self explanatory)

It's certainly an exotic mix!

Great (apologies for treading on the no doubt intense internal power rivalries within CPTCC) - ground with a pavilion and bar sounds attractive - will look into the various options. Date that had earmarked for a w/end game (probably my preference) was one of 18, 19 May or 8 or 9 June - would that work for the CPT(RIP)CC?

    • The other consideration is that users of Lime bikes and similar, plus younger pedal cyclists, probably don't view themselves as 'cyclists' as such and so don't get kitted out or even consider that they need to. I also agree that earlier nights are another factor for the casual or hire bike user more used to cycling in the summer. I don't think I have ever seen a hire bike or scooter user wearing a helmet or reflective gear- presumably that is because the bike is just viewed as a transport tool for short term use and users do not want to be encumbered by any of the safety gear? Before anyone jumps on me for anecdotal evidence and speculation, this is just what I have seen round here, there may be hordes of similar users elsewhere that are kitted out.
    • Well apolitical if that is an OK word for you.  Sorry if my choice of words was incorrect.  But on my original point if it wasn't for the Telegraph dragging this up, and yes they do have an agenda, an no they are not apolitical/impartial whatever, we;d be none the wiser. But as it made no difference to Trump's election campaign that why would he have a case in the American courts? Irrespective of the rights and wrongs of the programme
    • If she took a bus, has she tried contacting the bus company? Long shot, but you never know!
    • Not really the point, though? I doubt cyclists who dress like this in the dark are or have been car drivers? Surely if they were they would be more aware of visibility issues? They are a real danger to themselves and others.
